I know this topic has been covered before the site got upgrade, but I still have more questions as to what is acceptable as proof of residency. I know that car registration/cable/telephone bill is acceptable, but since I still live at home with my parents and cannot change the cable bill to my name, I was wondering if I could use a notice of delinquent renewal from the DMV. I have a motorcycle that is under my name, but my registration expired. Can I use this notice as proof of residency? It has a due date of less than 3 months and is issued from the government. Acceptable?

Sounds like that will work. Its just has to match your drivers license address. Best thing to do is ask your dealer. Some are a little less....well.....anal about what you bring them. The other thing you could do is get a Californa ID card from your local DMV. Its looks like a driver license but its just a gov issued ID. Its only like $25 and a couple week wait. This is good thing to have anyway for banks, buying guns, and other places that require 2 picture ID's. I'm going to get mine when I get the time."Calling an illegal alien a "undocumented worker" is like calling the drug dealer hanging around outside your kid's school an "unlicensed pharmacist." -

You can do this, get a letter from your parent (should be the one who have his/her name under the bill) and states that you are living with them. Have it notarized and together with whatever bill you have take it to where you want to buy your FA. Perfectly legal and acceptable.

Bank statements are NOT
acceptable for California P.O.R.
Banks statements are OK for NON U.S. citizens but even those must have proof of California residence.
A Calif. ID will not cut it either. While a VALID car\truck\motorcycle registration is acceptable, A DMV RENEWAL notice will NOT be acceptable.
A rental agreement between parents and child (paying or not) can be used under certain circumstances and does NOT have to be notarizedComment

A few of my friends who still live with their parents have used this method. A lot of people do not know where to get rental agreements so ill say so here. I sometimes see them thrift stores like Vons, Rite Aid, Savons etc... But Staples, Office Depot, etc...always carry them.
That California ID(not drivers license) doesnt work for jack anywhere! You can NOT even get into a club with a CA issued ID card.Comment

I had recently moved, and had no proof that I lived where I said I did, so I went and changed my address with DMV, then paid $5 for a copy of my driving record. They will accept that... They also told me that they would accept anything mailed to you from a government agency, as long as you also bring the envelope with your address on it. I would suggest asking the people at the shop what they would accept... might be surprised what they will take.
Do your parents know that you are buying a gun??? That might be a good way to get a new address and bills in your name..

Hmmm, from the link you provided seems like vehicle registration meets the following requirement 100%, it's certainly a government issued registration with expiration date, name and address:Originally posted by RHT447DMV vehicle registration in no longer accepted. that would also mean that a hunting license is allowed..
"1. A current, government-issued (city, county, special district, state, or federal) license, permit, or registration, other than a California Driver License or California Identification Card, that has a specified expiration date or period of validity."Comment

I had this same problem.....when i finished with College, i moved back to my parent's place and i wanted to buy a handgun. so what i did was get a blank lease agreement and had my parent's fill out the lease agreement and put Zero dollar amount into the rent value. i then photocopied it and took it to the dealer (Traders sports in san leanrdo). they said nothing and accepted it....
you can buy blank lease agreements from staples or office depot. there are some legal websites that sell it too.
i hope this helps!!!!
