Was wondering if fire fighters get any kind of gun benefits? Anything from exempt from certain laws or easier ccw's. Just curious

I know the firefighters in San Diego who work M.A.S.T. (Metro Arson Strike Team) carry sidearms. -
I have got some really good deals on my two Glocks being a FF/EMT. Contact Glock directly or a company in San Jose called LC Action. They also have other guns besides Glock.
Law enforcement police supply shop in bay area california selling guns and other firearm accessories
I dont really know of any special treatment type stuff. It may be easier to obtain a LTC if you made it known you were a FF....dont really know."The pen is mightier than the sword....until someone tries to take your pen away." -RSComment

My dad is a retired Engine Captain. He was also considered a Peace Officer, he had POST training while working for his Department. He used his S&W 645 while on duty, he didnt wear it but kept it in the Engine/Station i believe. I was only a young kid at the time, but i thought he carried it off duty for a short time, i cant fully remember.Comment

No direct benefits are granted your usual firefighter/ emt/ first responders. The exceptions being:
a) Public Safety Officers (serve as both Law Enforcement and Emergency Fire/ Medical personnel in cities like Mtn View, CA). In their role as LE, PSOs have all the exemptions that come with that job.
b) Arson Investigator (in SF you can promote to Arson from either Fire or Police). In the case of a FF, you're sworn in as an LEO (same benefits as SFPD).
c) Oakland Paramedic (not currently). Back in the day, Oakland encouraged it's Paramedics to be armed and wear body armor while on duty.sigpicComment

They are Fire Prevention Officers and are sworn peace officers with the same capabilities as CHP, Sheriff, etc."The pen is mightier than the sword....until someone tries to take your pen away." -RSComment

Yeah. Gangbangers routinely double back to discourage paramedics from rescuing their intended vics. Only friend I have working Oakland these days is an ex SF FF/Paramedic who now works as LE for OPD.sigpicComment

Glock is about the only major firearms manufacturer that I know of that has a specific homeland security program that gives discounts for their pistols, and makes the program fairly well known. Other manufacturers may have a similar program, but I doubt they would advertise very much. The people over at Glock talk are probably the best resource to find out exactly what the homeland security program that Glock has requires to qualify.
Otherwise being a firefighter does not have any specific benefit in the law, as it pertains to firearms. This would not apply to firefighters that are also sworn as law enforcement.Comment
