Ruger LCR Pocket Carry

I have been interested in getting a Ruger LCR as a backup/summer carry gun and was wondering if anyone pocket carries one. I currently have a Kahr p380 that suits the bill nicely size wise, but I don't care for the gun in general. So, before I sell the Kahr any input would be appreciated. How well does it carry in standard jeans or khakis? How is the imprint? Pictures would be a plus.

I'd be interested to read what others have to say, as well. I'm really diggin' the looks, fit, and feel of the gun but would like to know that the frame holds up.

I had the LCR. Too big for pocket carry for me especially that huge trigger guard.

Unless Ruger has fixed it, the LCR has a pretty serious trigger reset problem. I would shoot it a bunch, especially rapid fire, before trusting my life to one. Mine would cycle the cylinder without resetting the trigger. I sold mine and bought a Smith 340PD.

Had a J frame, not a LCR, and for me, it was too big (thick) for pocket carry, LCR would be the same.

I was thinking about a lcr too and shot my friends lcr, was not impressed. I ended up getting a smith and wesson 637-2 airweight chiefs special model and couldn't be happier. have a IWB holster that fits in my pocket no problem. And i find myself reaching for this weapon often when i got out to work.

Pocket carry, maybe. Depends do you wear loose fitting jeans/shorts, or super tight Wrangler style. Some folks wear pants so tight they can barely get keys in their pocket and sticking a hand in to get them is almost impossible. My Dad is this person.

Me too... when I first got mine, I had to test out the different types of ammo. I tried everything I could get my hands on, slow fire for accuracy, and rapid fire for function testing. I shot a total of 300+ rounds that day, without a single problem. I would have shot more, but my hand was starting to take a beating with over 100 +P rounds.

I've only carried this in a holster out on a friend's property, so I couldn't answer the OP's question about pocket carry unless you are referring to a jacket with a pocket holster, which I've done as well.

Had one with a DeSantis superfly pocket holster and it is really too large for practical pocket carry unless you plan on putting it in a big side pocket on some cargo pants. (Is that an LCR in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?).

I never felt comfortable with pocket carry, just always pictured it slipping out on accident. IWB is comfortable and very concealed. I had an LCP that I pocket carried but changed that out for a M&P 9c and thats what I carry IWB now.

So the consensus is; the width of the LCR is a problem for pocket carry, which was what I was concerned about. My work attire requires khakis and a tucked polo so I am limited on where I can conceal a firearm. My Kahr carries easily in my front or back pocket and leaves no visible imprint in the right holster. Looks like I will keep the Kahr despite not liking the gun. Thank you for the input folks!

Theres IWB holsters that you can still tuck in your shirt I believe CrossBreed has one but you should check their applications.

Depends on how loose your khakis are. I pocket carry a 360PD and have no issues, but I don't wear "skinny jeans", I wear the looser "Relaxed fit" style. At first, being paranoid I felt unsure of if I was printing but over the last two years I've never had an issue. I've asked multiple people, multiple times to see if they could identify if I was carrying or not and even when asked directly they couldn't tell.

The only way to really tell is to try one, so I'd find someone locally that has one that would let you fit it for size (probably not too hard here, if you list your location).
