    I've used Testers model paint (prefer fluorescent orange) on some rifle front sights. For the self-defense pistols I've switched over to the big XS white dot sight after much experimentation of what I do and don't like. Per OP, i'd try the model paint and see if that solves the problem. It did for me and one of my rifles as I had the same exact problem.

      Beater S & W Model 39-2 in 9mm (great shooter!), decided to experiment with a little color. My son, (29 yr.) says: "dad you are so ghetto". What is he sayin? Hey, it works great and this is not a beauty contest; that's the Gallery.

      The front is lime green, rear is red/orange. This was an improvement for me, paper punches are getting closer to center. Quicker getting the sight picture, works great in a greenish forest environ.

      The paint is liquid marker (called: identify and personalize), they had it at the hardware store.
