    Have gun will travel gun?

I know it's a stupid question but if you don't have to play you don't want to.

Earlier today I saw biker with camping gear strapped to his bike and it reminded me of another biker/traveler I saw last summer in Montana fueling up his bike and he was wearing a 1911 on his hip. When I see a traveler such as today's biker or a couple in a VW Camper I naturally think...Have gun will travel! I dont even know why I think of a road trip and a gun go together because I never grew up with that example.

Sometimes I take a pistol when I travel put for some reason picking which one was never easy and sometimes I wonder if not bringing one is the wiser choice. Sometimes I feel it's a burden because I have to find a safe place to keep it when I can't have it in my immediate control such as in a hotel safe.

What do you guys take if anything on a road trip, weekend trip, camping trip, bike trip, etc.? Do you have a gun that you consider your traveling gun?

I do a lot of online buying and selling, mostly car parts... Cause well, I'm a gear head. I meet a lot of people outside of my area. So I bring my usp45, you never know who the other guy could be.

I carry my Glock 19 with me everywhere because its big enough to fight with and small enough to conceal if needed, and comes with 15 rounds.

I never travel anywhere without at least one handgun. Lately my TRUNK gun (in a locked case, unloaded with several loaded magazines) is a GLOCK 20SF.

In addition, my front seat or floor weapon lately has been my G27 FrankenGlock in .357 SIG.

Both are in a secure locked case for legal transport here in Kalifornistan

If I'm heading cross country thru the desert for Arizona or Nevada I 'sometimes' carry a carbine in my trunk as well.

I carry a plastic tub in my trunk with a small assortment of food/water/medical supplies/camping gear etc as a GHB (get home bag)

As I travel quite a bit around the State, If something happens (9.6 quake for example) and I have to live in the car for a while, I want my Wine and Cheese....

I have a dedicated car gun. Always there, always ready, along with the bug out bag.

Out-of-stater here... So if you don't have a CCW in CA, you still can carry a gun in the car, but it has to be carried in a locked box? Does the locked glove compartment count?

In the Gunshine state, I carry one on me, one in the car, one in the... well, you get the point. I feel TERRIBLE for the poor soul who'd want to hurt me... my prayers go to him in advance... BUT let me not gloat too much here--as my job is moving me back to CA. I used to live there, but was not into self-protection much, so now that I can't leave my home here for a second without my EDC, I am doing research to learn about the strict firearms laws of California. That's how I bumped into this thread. I don't want to hijack the thread, but if I do get the CCW in one county in CA, would I not be able to conceal-carry my EDC if I cross county lines?

By the way, hi Bob! Long time no talk buddy!

OK. You need to post up a "Wine and cheese with protection" photo...

The glove box is specifically noted in the Penal Code as NOT being an acceptable locked secure container.

If you get a LTC, it is good through out the state.

I always preferred to have my Walther P22 and two spare mags with me when I travel (even though my daily carry piece is a .38 snub; yes both on my carry permit). For some reason I feel better knowing that I have 31 rounds with me should the need arise. I always feel like the previously mentioned 9.6 earthquake will happen when I am on vacation...

If I were to get a dedicated travel gun, it would most likely be a 4" 9mm of some sort.
