    Need some info please

First I want to say Great Site!! Next I am from Texas but moved to California back in 1991. I grew up around fishing and hunting I just never really got into hunting not that I am against it I was just more interested in Bass fishing I have done it all my life . Well last spring I decided to buy a 9mm handgun from my local gun shop. took the test paid the fees and 10 days later I picked up my 9mm.

My son is 11 now and he loves the bass fishing but wants to get into hunting so I purchased him a pellet gun (to start with) and I purchased me a 22 long rifle so him and I can go do some rabbit hunting this spring. Well I was just notified by Bass pro shops that my purchase has been delayed and gae me a number so I called the number today and the lady told me there is somthing out of Texas I said yes I got in some trouble when I was 16 years old dunb kid doing dumb stuff it was for riding in a stolen car I did not steal it nor was I driving it . I am 39 years old and never have I had another run in with the law she said the lady who was working on this wont be in till Tuesday to call back. MY QUESTION IS If I was a kid and not an adult this should not even matter right? Also how can I get cleared for my High power 9mm with no issues and now I am bying a plinking gun low calibur 22 and they are giving me crap? Any body been in my shoes? I HATE CALIFORNIA but I married a California girl and she will not move and leave her family

Sorry for the book just wanted yall to understand where Im at

    Thanks Dom

Getting 'youthful indiscretions' cleared up, especially in a different state, is often a complicated mess.

Do talk to the state person on Tuesday, to get as much information as you can.

You may end up hiring a lawyer; it may be that the arresting agency has some path or process.

If your wife wants to buy a handgun for herself, that would be fine. Buying it for you, however, since at least for the moment you seem to be a 'prohibited person', would be a Very Bad Idea (at the Federal felony level).

When, and if, things get cleared up, try again.

Thanks Dan , Yea I am screwed I hate this state with a passion ! Been here for 20 years. I seriously have tried every angle to get my wife to move but I have a 15 year old daughter and 11 yo old son and my wife dont want to take them from thier friends and school. So looks like I am stuck in this @#$%% state. I am from Bridgeport,Tx (grew up grade school) then in middle school moved to Grand Prairrie, TX I still have family all over Tx from Galvaston to Round rock and Dallas. Where you from? I graduated and moved to California to make my millions in the state where the sun always shines and it never rains LMAO THEY LIED TO ME! lol

Now I am just wondering what will happen if they say becuase of this I can not purchase the gun? Will I have to give up my 9mm? I dont see how I can pass one and get delayed for the other Plus I paid alot of money for my Sig 9mm im not just giving it back screw them!

This sucks its a Holiday week-end I have to wait on pins and needles till Tuesday to see if I am a good enough citizen to act on my 2nd adm. right!!!! This is Horse Crap!

          Thanks Yall

I don't see why this would be an issue, You were 16 years old it should have been cleared once you turn 18. Unless you were charged and found guilty of a federal felony. And you were fine when getting the sig, so why would there be a problem? But just incase i'd "Give" that sig to your wife.

I hear and read about alot of these messed up reports, one guy got his collection tooken from him, the news said had high power military grade stock pile of weapons. Umm.... well a ar-15, ar-10 i'm suprised they didn't mention the kicthen knive set saying they are deadly ninja throwing knives.

How sad it must be to settle and live somewhere you hate with such a passion.

20 years in a place you hate. I feel bad for you...

Well I did not always hate California the first 10 years was cool but this state has went to crap. and after being married for 18 years its kinda hard to just walk out I mean I got kids and ...well I kinda love her LOL I guess its a small price to pay to have what I got.

I have talked to a few buddies they said this is no big deal I was a kid the charge was not federal nor was it a hanus crime nor was a gun involved so I am not to worried now just gonna hold up me getting my gun for a few days.

And I will not give up my sig I will tell em I cant find it right now musta misplaced it but when I find it you will be the first to know LOL (seriously)

                Thanks yall Dom

i don't know about texas, but doesn't your juvenile record become sealed in CA once you turn 18?

as far as background check reasons go.

Either way...good luck. With the new 22 and with getting back to TX it that is what you want.

Life it to short to live where you are not happy.

(PS, I am betting the 22 thing works out and by the middle of next week your cleared)

This seems like deja vu... Another poster had purchased a weapon recently and was turned down after a successful purchase in the past http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=516327.

Is DoJ suddenly getting records they didn't have before or some new system? Seems strange to have two people reporting successful purchases in the past (and in the case of the first poster his was just 2 weeks before he attempted his second purchase) and then denied, and posting within a short time period.

                        Thanks Dom

                            Dom,

You can purchase as many long rifles as you want. Also the only 1/30 rule is for purchased hand guns from an FFL. But you can buy new from FFL then go to town purchasing used from a private party transfer with no limits.

The first poster was listing rifles or a combination of handgun/rifle which would not trigger the 1/30 (I remember one was a Wasr 10 and the other a .22).
