SIG Pro p2009 or Glock 19 for an HK USPf .45 shooter?

Hi all. I would appreciate your input on my next handgun purchase. I own an HK USP .45f and would like to know the pros and cons of both the Glock 19 and the SIG Pro P2009.Thanks!

    GLOCK 19
    Pros:
cheap, reliable, durable, accurate, easy to maintain, parts are cheap and plentiful, lots of possible mods

    Con:
grip angle is not for everybody.

    SIG Sauer SP 2009
    Pros:
cheapest SIG, reliable, durable, more accurate, also easy to maintain but somewhat a pain to field strip, grips are changeable, and ON SALE AT TURNER'S!- http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=75909

    Cons:
parts are slightly expensive, proprietary rails

I personally dont like the Glock grips. I would go for the 2022 because it has two interchangable backstraps and is a whole lot of gun for the money. You should find a local range that has both and decide for yourself.

As much as I like the SiGPro, I would get the Glock 19. More accessories for it, easy to detail strip and mod.

Both guns are very accurate and it would probably more come down to your grip and trigger preferences. I love the feel of the SiG trigger but I prefer the shorter Glock reset. I have very small hands so the Glock fits me much better than the SiG.

If you get a chance, try before you buy.

IMO you will so like the G19 after shooting the USP! Trigger is unique and different from the USP. Not familiar with the Sig Pro, but I really like the 220 and 226 as well for their all steel/alloy frames. Best bet is to go to a range that rents them and try them out.

Both are great. I have both platforms in different calibers. You can not go wrong with either, but the G19 may have a better resale value, G19 mags are always easy to find and cheap, the G19 has a long track record of excellent service, G19 is a little smaller, G19 can take G17 mags and G19 mags can be used in the G26. BUT, if it was me and the gun was for home defense, I would got with the DA/SA P2009. I just believe a hammer down multiple striker gun is better for the average joe. JMHO.

I'd go with the SigPro as well.

Great grip feel, likely more accurate (though fairly irrelevant for a defensive/combat gun).

Issues about detail stripping are fairly moot. For regular disassembly, SigPro slide comes off like any other Browning-HP-derived autoloader, though it does not have a disassembly latch like Sig 22X or Beretta 92s. For the SigPro, ensure gun's empty, rack slide back partway, push out the slide stop lever, remove slide assembly in forward motion.

Since you bring up having an Hk USPf, the Sig Pro would be more similar in function with the DA/SA trigger minus the safety if your Hk is a variant with the safety. My Hk is DA/SA with decock lever just like my Sig P220st. Take down for the Sig should be just the same as your Hk.

Get both, you'll like each for what they are (if the Glock grip angle doesn't bother you). You might just end up with both eventually.

Love both. But I shoot better with my 2009. Plus mags from Sig website was $20 each.

Definitely the G19 wins in terms of easily available & cheaper aftermarket stuff.

                  Get both.

are there date codes or multiple generations of the sig sp2009? From what I heard they are a discontinued Sig model. Does this imply that they are somehow outdated in some way? Also, what would be a good price for a NIB sig sp2009 from a local store?

                      9mm guns in CA

The G19 is a fine gun, and I have had one for about 10 years. I have no experience with the polymer Sig, and can't comment on that.

But if you are in the market for a 9mm polymer gun in California, where you can only get 10 round magazines, don't these high capacity capable 9mm guns waste a lot of space in the grip? Why not get a gun that is designed for a magazine of 10 or fewer rounds?

For example, a single stack or smaller double stack 9mm will often give you between 7+1 and 10+1 rounds Examples would include the Sig P239 and P225, the Kahr P9 and K9, the H&K P2000sk, Glock 26, various older S&W semiautos, etc.

it is an older model, but still a great gun. The only difference between the older 2009/2340 models and the 2022 models is that the 2009/2340 models have a proprietory(sp?) rail. If you live in SoCal they go on sale at Turners for $399.99. These are great guns, and I believe they have the best factory trigger ever to come from sig.

To the OP, I have a sig 2340 and love it, I was going to buy the 2009, but eneded up getting a used Glock 19 instead. Why, because I wanted something different. You can't go wrong with either, but I would go with the sig because the price is very good, and you get a lifetime warranty. Then get a G19 next

I have the sp2009 blue line. The only difference between this model and the newer versions is the proprietary rail system. I personally don't use rail mounted lights so, that doesn't bother me, YMMV. It is accurate and easy to clean. Both the Sig and the Glock are great guns. Each has their own pro's and con's. I would get the Sig now because the price is definitely right with that sale at Turner's. Glocks on sale are fairly common. You will get another chance to purchase a G19.

If I could only own one handgun, it would be my Glock 19. "Goldilocks" size, great CCW piece, holds 15 rounds (preban, of course), cheap to shoot, Glock durability and reliability.

So, of the two you mentioned, the Glock.
