    Am I reading this correctly?

My girlfriend is getting ready to buy her first handgun. The address listed on her driver's license is still her parent's house, but she lives here in Hemet with me (has for over 2 years) and her vehicle registration is listed as my address. From what I am reading on here, unless I am misinterpreting, she can list her current address on her DROS as my address (where she currently lives) and only needs to provide her current vehicle registration (address she will be using on DROS) and she will be fine, because I was under the impression that the address on your license had to match the address you list on your DROS.

http://oag.ca.gov/firearms/dlrfaqs#33G Link to what I am referencing.

Any help or advice will be much appreciated. Worst case scenario is we could get a signed rental agreement from her parents, seeing as she still "lives" there on the weekends.

I don't have a firm answer, but it is a hassle if your DL is not your current address.

OK, seeing as we have AAA we will swing by the office in town later today and get the change of address, I found another article that said that for a handgun purchase CA requires you to have govt. documentation of your new address if your listed address on the DROS form does not match your govt. issued ID card.

Thanks for the advice, would have completely forgotten about AAA and wasted a bunch of time in a DMV office because of this.

You don't need POR (proof of residency) until you actually pick up the gun.

I suggest you bring in whatever documents you have when you go to buy the gun and have the shop OK them. If they don't like what you have you can explain your situation and have them help you figure out what will work.

I think you will need a Ca ID card with a matching address on the DMV registration.
But if you have other paper work that the store will accept, bring it in before the purchase as stated above.

I've purchased 1 handgun 1 shotgun and 1 rifle in the last 4 months... My ID says old address, my Vehicle Reg says new address... 2 gun shops both took the Vehicle Reg. Was able to post longer now that I ate my rolled tacos.

I recently moved and my DL doesnt match my utility bills. Car isnt registered in my name. I just went to the DMV and got the brown address change card. You dont even have to take a number. They have them at the information counter.

^According to a few threads I read Turner's won't accept the brown address cards anymore. Apparently they will only accept an actual DMV printout for change of address.

You will probably be OK as long as you don't go to Turner's.

Called Turner's to verify, the guy on the phone says as long as her vehicle registration matches the address she lists on DROS we will be fine. Guess I will find out shortly.
