    My first handgun!

    Hey everyone,

Well, I finally ordered my first handgun, the Glock 17 Gen 3. I was able to hold the Sig P226 and the Beretta PX4 Storm. I liked the Sig, but a little out of my price range for now. The PX4 I really liked too as it was also very comfortable and like the look of it very much. This is gonna be an expensive hobby! (a bonus of when talking to the dealer as it is legal to have HPs in SF!!).

I chose the Glock 17 as it was more comfortable for me than the Glock 19 surprisingly. Yet the 17 was more natural--I guess I have big hands! (^_^).

I am glad I got the 3rd gen as it has a long and proven history, but have am second guessing myself that I should've gotten the 4th gen. instead. Oh well.

Man this gonna eat in my kid's college fund!

    Can't wait til Jan 7th!

    excellent choice!
I think there are a fair number of folks that prefer the Gen 3. Love the G17.

Awesome choice. I own several Glocks and have yet to experience a malfunction with probably over 50,000+ rounds combined. I reccomend dry firing it a lot at home for practice and to break the trigger in.

There is another active thread going on about the Glock. Mostly Glock snobs and Glock haters going back and forth, but there is some good info in there if you are willing to weed through the rhetoric.

I don't own a Glock (no reason in particular), but the general consensus seems to be that the Gen. 3 Glock is more reliable than the Gen. 4. So, it looks like you chose correctly.

Can you enlighten me as to what you meant by "legal to have HP's in SF"?

Is there some sort of ammo ban in San Francisco? Do tell.
