Thoughts on the CZ97?

I have had my 97b for a few years now and it has been trouble free. It eats anything that I have fed it. It is the most accurate auto out of the box that I have ever found. All in all great gun.

This is the loaded chamber indicator thomasanelson was referring to. Mine has remained problem free, but I can see how that set screw could work its way free. IMHO it was a complete afterthought because it doesn't follow the lines of the gun.



dfletcher - I agree. To me in S/A it has a length of pull of the Glock, but with a narrower grip. Makes the Glock feel like its ugly chubby sister.

ivanimal - Yup, some of your posts pointed me in the direction of CZ when I was looking for a new .45, but it was mostly Bu-Bye that persuaded me to make the purchase. I'm glad I did. BTW what ever happened to that guy? Last I read he had a family emergency, sold some guns and disappeared.

Then apparently it is working exactly as intended. Why else would the anti-gun crowd in Sacramento have pushed for handguns being required to have the loaded-chamber indicator!

I heard he just needed to get closer to the family. He did not sell any guns we worked out a deal for him to keep them. He is probably lurking around from time to time here.

I've not had a problem with the loaded chamber indicator. I'm not at home now & can't check it out - how would the indicator becoming inop result in the gun not working? So far as I know, it's a small tab that lifts up when a round is in the chamber, maybe I'm missing an aspect of its function.

One thing not captured by those very nice photos is just how ergonomic the grip feels. Although large, it does feel & fit good in hand.

It becomes in-op when/if the screw becomes loose, falls out and makes the entire loaded chamber system fall out. I was surprised when I tried to fire the gun sans-loaded chamber system and it would not function. Once I put it back together, it functioned fine.
