    phoenix arms .22

Im looking into buying one for a cheap plinker. I see them online from $100-150. But after ffl fees it'll go up. So I'm wondering if any of you know of a gunshop within a 30 mile radius of hayward that sells them? Thanks in advance.

The reviews of these are up and down. I looked at one at Turners down here (SD) and I was a bit disappointed. It was heavier than it looked and felt a bit clunky for a small gun. You'd basically get what you pay for with it,... a cheap plinker. Although I do not know how accurate it is, hopefully someone else can speak on that.

If you can afford something better then I'd say wait.

Else, I remember Imbert & Smithers being an OK shop when I lived in the BA a few years ago, they might be able to order one for you if they dont stock it. Else Turners always sells em for cheap.

I have one and like it, shoots well and unless you get it for under 200 out the door I would just save for a ruger or browning. Good pistol imo, shoots decent groups.

I also have one, if you take it apart wrong, you ruin the recoil spring. Still goes bang but I like my mkiii 22/45 better. The sights arent that great. I definitely wouldn't pay more than $200 unless it came as a combo with the target barrel. You can probably find a decent model used.

I'm pretty sure City Arms in Pleasant Hill has one (at least they did the last time I was in there). I seem to remember it was in the $150-$180 range.

This guy has a great tip on how to put the recoil spring on without damaging it.

Does anyone have the HP22 with the 5 inch barrel? How does it compare to the 3 inch?

If you're willing to make the drive to Ripon, Barnwood Arms has one for $149. I have one and love it. Nothing like burning through 300 rounds for $10 in ammo.

Triple As in Vallejo sells them for $169 I believe. I have one and think it great for a small 22. Bought one for my old lady too.

Still need to take it to the range but I got the 5" barrel from here:

Thanks for all the info fellas. I found one new for $105 + $60 transfer so I think for $165 OTD i'll go ahead and get it online.

Its really not about the money. I have better weapons that I don't want to get scratched etc. I just want a CHEAP weapon that I can bang up and save some cash on ammo. Thanks for the suggestion though.
