Anyone cut down a Super Redhawk?

I want the SR .454, but the 7.5" is too long and the Alaskan is too short. I'm considering getting the 7.5" and having it cut down to 5.5"....... any opinions?

Maybe I should just go with the 629 or Redhawk in .44 mag..... I really would like the extra punch of the .454 for mountain carry though. I don't like the thought being grizzly food if I can help it.

I've got one too, have considered doing the same thing. Not a big sacrifice as it's is a Ruger after all.

My thinking is I may just cut the barrel off at the frame, which I think would leave it with about a two inch barrel.

Where would you find a new front sight?

While you have the barrel off the receiver, give it a good porting job that fits around the re-located front sight.

The Blackhawk w/ Ivories in the below pic recieved the full tune treatment, it might be the most accurate wheelgun I own.
