    glock 34, 35 accuracy

Kind of curious if Glock has a group size accuracy standard for their 34 and 35 models, perhaps their 17L and 24 models too.

If the gun in question does not measure up to snuff, is there mods or smithing that a Glock Armorer can perform to tighten up the tolerances and slop in the system to something more target grade?

I've owned Glock 22's and 23's and always have found, even benched, the accuracy isn't much to write home about, compared to my 1911 or P35.

    Bump,

Surprised no one knows, or will comment. What's to be expected for 10 shot, 25 yard groups with a good reload in a Glock 34 in 9mm?

The only thing you can really do to a glock is to tighten the barrel hood fit and lock up, experement with different loads and recoil springs, maybe a trigger job. those glocks come with the lighter trigger already so not much improvement there excpet for over travel and reset.

Im sure (unless your a pro) they will out shoot most.

I think the accuracy is potentially increased moreso by helping out the user. The reduced trigger weight along with longer sight radius probably increases the accuracy more than the increased barrel length. I'm guessing benched, it'll shoot similar to a G17.. but I could be wrong.

IMO Glocks are way more accurate than most shooters. Not saying you're not more accurate with other guns, but IMO its probably you not the gun.

My guess is that the triggers are possibly making you better on the other guns not the tolerances. Personally I'm the same way. I wish I could shoot my Glock as well as some of my single action pistols, but I assume it's me not the Glock.

If you YouTube Hickok45 you'll really be able to see some amazing accuracy from stock glocks, even the sub compacts.

But to answer your question, no, I have never seen a number from Glock that they guarantee their pistols' accuracy to.

Go to Brian Enos forums in the glock section.

You will get more reliable information from people who tested them off a bench.

When you compare a 17 to a 34, the extra "accuracy" really has nothing to do with barrel length. That is a myth. Maybe .001%. The longer barrel generally is desired because you can make the same bullet power factor (momentum) with LESS powder since the longer barrel is a tad faster. So you can still make a 125 or 165 power factor requirement (minor or major) using LESS powder than a G17/G22.

The longer sight radius (as mentioned above) helps the user shoot more accurately, but does not make the machine itself more accurate.

You could also look into having a custom match barrel fit that locks up tighter.

I have a KKM drop in for my 34 and yes, it locks up tighter than the factory barrel, but even then the accuracy improvement is questionable. I am sure the gunsmith fitted version would be a bit better.

I got it because I mainly shoot lead and I don't like cleaning the oem barrel as much.

Cliff notes: If you shot a g22/35/24 or a g17/34/17 properly off of a bench, you most likely will not see any type of accuracy improvement. Get a custom match barrel fit to the slide if you want to see accuracy improvement.

What type of shooting are you doing anyway? For practical shooting like uspsa/idpa/ipsc a Glock is 10x more than enough accuracy wise.

I'm very accurate with my 35:

This was a quick 10 round group standing unsupported at 25 yards 1 shot ever 2-3 seconds with Ranger-T I made with my G34 the day before I listed it for sale:

Slow fire would produce better results, as it would supported. A fitted Bar-Sto would probably shrink those groups nearly in half if I did my job.

I don't know about stock, but Bar-sto says, with good ammo, you can get 1.25" groups or better at 25 yards with one of their fitted barrels. So a match grade, fitted barrel improves accuracy, which is no surprise. Though they don't say, I assume their semi drop in barrel will do what others like Wilson Combat's Glock 17 barrel will do which is around 2" @ 25 yards.

fyi: there is a reason why a glock armorer does not do this kind of work.

Like you, I just accepted most of my Glocks would not shoot as well as some of the other handguns I own. This was credited for me to the 1911 platform and that wonderful trigger.
I recently found the accuracy that was missing in my Glock by going to a slide mounted Delta Point 3.5 MOA.
Night and Day difference in accuracy vs my Warren Tactical open sights. So yes, I had open sights that certainly improved my accuracy.
Think about it, a narrower front sight allows for you to see more. You will have better precision with it, as the stock sights/night sights block too much. Made even more difficult at 25 yards.
Now with a mini holo, one point of aiming. Just one.
                        Shameless Quote taken from Glockworx..
Shooting a red dot mounted in this fashion will make you an all around better shooter. The dot teaches you about grip pressure as if you grip the gun too hard or too soft the dot will do a clover leaf in recoil. Grip the gun correctly and it will track strait up and down. Everything you learn with your dot gun will carry over to your iron sighted guns. You will begin to see more what your gun does in recoil, you will learn to look through the sights for a hard target focus for close range shots but still see enough of your sights to make accurate shots. As USPSA President and Grand Master Mike Voigt has said "If you want to get better with iron sights shoot a dot gun for a year."
Having spent a little time at 25 yards mostly, and shot open sights and now recently mini holos, I have (2) Deltas and (1) Burris mounted on handguns I normally shoot.
I plan to get my 35 and my Advantage Arms 22 slides melted by Glockworx. When I can afford more mini holo's, I will start to get some 1911s mounted.
Being almost 50, the mini have been a God send for me and my older eyes..
