    Compact 45 choices?

It's been about 5 or so years since I bought an auto. I wish to have a compact bottom feeder in 45 ACP that is not a 1911 nor polymer framed. What are the good choices out there?

I've got a colt M1991A compact that is a great gun. No poly - all steel.

My M1991A1 on the bottom, 1911 full frame Colt on the top.

If not the 220 (which would be my choice), maybe a used S&W 457

I've been using Google Foo and it appears that aside from the Sig and the S&W there are hardly any all metal non 1911 compact 45s anymore

My taste is in the minority I guess.

Back in the day we had

Compact P95 and P97 by Ruger
Compact Double Eagle (it only looks like a 1911 on the outside)
            Beretta 8045
and a few different flavors of 3Gen 45XX from S&W. The 4516 was the most popular one.

            I'm sure I missed a few more.

I might end up getting a Ruger 345.

Both of my compact 45s are "Poly Pistols"---HK45C and Kahr P45---both run 100% and shoot very well---lightweight too. I am having a hard time thinking of a compact 45 that's not poly or a 1911 type---good luck with this. Oh, maybe a used S&W 3rd GEN compact.

I carry a Sig P239 but it is in .40 cal. My other carry gun is a Glock 36 in .45 Cal. Both guns beat the hell out of a rock in my pocket.

                  SIG P245 or P220 compact.

The Stoeger Couger in .45 is another option...it is a rebadged Beretta. Plus there is a cool factor, it was the issue pistol in Rainbow Six

hard chrome the glock 30 frame

SIG P220-SAO is on my wish list.
Para has a few that looks like a 1911, but has their LDA trigger.
CZ's has a couple and are all metal, so don't forget their clone EAA Witness.

I've always been a 1911 guy for the most part (when it comes to .45's) but when it comes to compacts, I'd go with either a Glock 30SF, a HK45C LEM or a HK USPC LEM. The 3 best compact .45's IMO.

The last one I know of thaat meets you requirements were a sig 245. A Sig 220 compact or 220 Carry are next. The carry is still on the roster.

P220 compact is the only current pistol fitting your criteria I can think of.
I believe someone makes metal aftermarket replacement frames for Glocks.
                            2nd & 3rd Gen S&W can be found.
There have been CZ patern pistols in .45.
                            I wish Kahr would make a K45.
