Anyone else find CZ controls obtrusive?

I recently got a CZ75 SA and I shoot with thumbs forward grip. Sent a few hundred rounds down the range and realized that both the safety and slide stop really gets in the way of my support hand (I shoot thumbs forward). Admittedly I have larger/longer palms. I checked in CZCustom for any possible lower profile safety and mainly slide stop.. but don't see anything. I can possibly get a thicker grip to elevate my hand a little more. Any other suggestions/solutions? I think the slide stop gets in the way more than the safety.

I purposely didn't buy the model with the manual safety because it got right in the way of where my thumb goes. Found that the BD model fits my hand much nicer, but every once in a while I ride the slide release with my thumb and my slide doesn't stay open. Not too big of a deal for me, but it is kind of an issue for me too.

The manual safety on the regular (non decock) models sometimes bugs me, but it's not a big deal. The decocking lever is where my thumb wants to be, so the P01 gets the least range time with me among all CZ's I have

I had a similar problem. I took a belt sander to the slide release and then I was back in business.

In all fairness, most handguns are not designed for a thumbs forward hold. You could try folding your thumbs down a bit.

Funny, I found the 75 SA to be most comfortable with my thumbs forward grip. the safety was a perfect shelf for my thumb, and very natural to disengage. The p01/sp01 tac is a lot less comfortable for me, the decocker ridges ride my thumbs.

Huh, never thought about it much - the 75 SA just felt so natural in my hand. Maybe my hands are small enough, but the concave area on top of the grip and below the safety, forms a 'pocket' that fits my right thumb perfectly.

Just picked up my Tac Sport and it has extended mag release but not the other controls.
Maybe just the way I shoot be it doesn't bother me. It is unusual for me to get accustomed to using the other hand to release the slide with the controls.
                Practice, practice, practice.
                Good Luck

I never found an issue with the layout or buttons. One of the most comfortable and natural pistols I've shot, but I've only shot 2-3 models.

Which grip pretty much only works with 1911's. If you're going to conform only to one pistol design, how is it a failing of other successful pistol designs?

Yea, I figured, especially considering when the handgun was initially designed.

And my Glock, Walther, pretty much every other striker-fire gun I've owned/shot. I do use "combat grip" when I shoot my revolvers though.

I do understand I'm in the minority here, as I've heard countless people compliment the ergos for the CZ. It definitely feels really good in my trigger hand, its just the support hand that I have to really make an effort to move lower, beneath the controls. The safety isn't as big of a deal as the slide stop.

My hands like to ride up high too, you aint alone. But then again I shoot Sigs alot and it forced me to group my thumbs together rather than point together. Some people say its bad but it kept me from accessing the slide stop, and it felt more natural. YMMV. But then again I use the trigger guard to steady the pistol too. If I ever put my taclight on my Glock I'm forced to go to the thumbs forward method since I cant use the trigger guard. Training is always going to pay off.

It happens. Gotta love there being more than one brand available : )

Hopefully you can make it work, if not, sell it and start fresh.

My CZ75 SA is probably the most comfortable and natural grip gun I have ever shot. It's my EDC for that very reason. But I cross my thumbs so...
