Is this normal for P229?

Hello,

I got a used P229 in very good condtion and took it to the range. After 400 rounds I notice a small nick/scratch over the extractor. The gun does shoot great and case ejection seems normal. I did not see this scratch before I put the rounds though it. Thoughts?

I cant see the nick/scratch your referring too, I thought you were at first worried bout the color, but even there hammers have that bronzed sorta color on them. In any case, it should be fine, but maybe some others will chime in.

Or are you referring to the yellow scratches up near the breach?

that gold coloring you're seeing is the brass hitting the side of the slide when it's getting ejected.. It'll come right off with a little elbow grease and Hoppes.. absolutely nothing to worry about..

Since you bought it 2nd hand, try getting a new recoil spring. Doing so might prevent this from happening..

I think the color does not show properly. Its a silver scratch but I will look into a new recoil spring. Thanks
