As someone who owns 2 Para's, you need to have a local 1911 gunsmith. I know that is not what you want to hear. Also check out the 1911forum.com. A lot of information on the Para and some of the factory people read and post on that forum. Also some of the 16-40 do not like factory ammo. Too short, mine likes it loaded at least 1.18".
Alanta Arms and Ammo makes the 40 Long. Currently my 18-9 is at my gunsmith having the power extractor removed and a sleeve and standard extractor installed from EGW.
Good luck, once you get them running they are great.
If you can't shoot good, at least look good shooting

My brother has the same gun and Para has been a nightmare to deal with. Constant issues, FTF's, FTE's, all sorts of stuff. He gave it to a buddy who builds custom 1911's and he took it on as a personal challenge. It took a few months of on again / off again work, but it was worth it all in the end. That sucker is about the nicest and cleanest shooting 1911 I've ever come across. That gun shoots as smooth as butter now.

He also owns a Para 13-45 alloy frame, and hasn't had an issue. It was an original Canadian build from a decade or so ago when they actually had quality control. Once they moved down south, everything kinda went to hell on them.

      I don't think it's nice,...you laughing.
You see, my mule don't like people laughing.
He gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him.
Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to,
I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Think I saw a P13-45 at my LGS on consignment. Was thinking about that one.

Sucks to hear that about Para. Before I got my S&W 1911PD I was thinking about a Para LTC.

OP came here from Canada just to complain about Para, nice first post. Unfortunately, he's not the only one I've heard that from lately.

Apec, if it's a newer P13 with the Power Extractor, I'd be less than eager unless I contemplated swapping in a channel filler and standard extractor. That worked for my Carry .45 LDA.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!
