SP01/px4 question

going to purchase my first firearm tomorrow. i have narrowed it down to two, SP01-non tactical and the PX4, both in 9mm.

i have shot handguns before (glocks .40 and 9mm). i know the basics of these two guns. one being a composite frame material and the other steel. one equipped with both, a manual safety and decocker and the other just a manual safety.

i've held the SP01 and it feels very natural. never had a chance to hold the px4, but i will tomorrow. of course, it will come down to what feels better, but what if the the px4 feels just as good.

again, for me, it has come down to these two. i was hoping people with experience with either weapon can give my a little personal insight. i'm still very much on the fence when it comes to these two. any help/advice will be appreciated.

I looked around quite a bit before I bought my 9 and the SP01 was by far the best for me. I use it as a range toy. The weight means just about anyone can shoot it and I hate the feel of plastic frames like on the glock. So far around 2kish rounds fired and only fail was a stovepipe while it was pretty dirty. If I was going for a carry gun I might go something lighter the SP01 is something like ~42oz. I love it though.

I shot PX4 in .40sw before is good gun but I like CZ SP01 better is get better feels better in my hand.
is up to U what U want but if this 2 in 9mm. I will take SP01 orve PX

One thing seems sure. If you decide to sell the gun, the CZ will be MUCH easier to off-load.

my 95% 75BD sold in less than a week in the tiny, random and only gun shop in SF filled with Sigs, Berettas, FN and S&Ws. I agree. (truth be told I was very surprised)

I have the SP-01 and love it, as do many others here on the forum. I wish to have shot a PX4 to help you compare but alas, no dice. If it helps the SP-01 and P-01 are two pistols I plan on remaining in my collection, they're like having a Ford F-150 in the garage - solid, dependable and will always be there for you.

thanks for the response guys. i'm located in the sf bay area, which means that carry is out of the question. this gun would be an all around gun, home protection and range.

revviepop, do you have the standard or tact. version? and if so what's the proce difference between the two. i'd rather have the standard version, but if the gun shop that i'll will be buying from only has the tactical version then i'd settle for that. i'm going to city arms tomorrow, last i was there they had a tact version with night sights for $589.

i plan to be at the range at least twice a week with this gun. looking to fire around 400-500 a week.

Both are good guns. The CZ may be more ergonomic to most people, but the PX4 will probably have a better trigger out of the box. It sounds like you plan to do a lot of practice. With the CZ, you have the option of putting a .22 kit on it and shoot lots of cheap .22 LR. I am not sure if the PX4 has such an option.

standard=safety, tactical=decocker

City Arms has the safety version you're after, or at least they did a week or two ago when I was in buying some cleaning supplies - now the guy says it's the Tactical model but it's not, it's a frame safety and isn't stamped but I wasn't about to argue with a shop owner. Krausewerk's in San Mateo and High Bridge in SF both have the safety model you want as well (I just manhandled one today) so you're in the clear.
