    Glock gen 4 legaility

Hypothetically speaking, if I were to acquire a glock gen 4, is this a way to legally get one?

    Father in law = LEO
    He buys gun.

Gives gun to wife (his daughter) through intrafamilial transfer

    wife transfers gun to me
    Through intra once again

    Good to go?
    or no?

Not worth the trouble you'd have to go through. I'd honestly stick with the gen 3's budd.

You do not have to do all that, I have a Gen 4, they are legal to own but illegal to sell, so you find a shop like PRK here in Fresno, that make it a single shot by changing barrel. you buy, walk out side , walk back inside ask them to fix gun, they put factory barrel back in. ( done) there are others or you can rent single shot barrel and send to your FFL.

there is a stick on this, I think.

      love my Gen 4

However, if you want one then you want one... no problem with that.

Thanks, yea I mean dont get me wrong OP, if you want one bad (heck I want a Sig I cant get on the roster), go for it. But in all honesty it seems like theres still some major issues with the Gen 4's and for the price you'll pay to SSE it, you might as well get a Gen 3. If you need it just for the backstraps and mag release go for it though.

Go with SSE or buy one from the marketplace. Why do you want to pay for DROS three times (35x3= $105 bucks)

SSE would probably get it to you a little bit quicker. But if your LEO father in law bought one, and decided he didn’t like it, he could just PPT directly to you (or anybody else )

Intrafamilial transfers are $19 bucks IIRC. Do it twice and you're out $38. It'd be cheaper to just have him PPT to you and wait the 10 days.

It is illegal for a California FFL to transfer to a California peasant. Legal to PPT.

                      You should be more specific.

And a bunch of Sacramento (and I believe Riverside) cops are in hot water over doing just that.

They will lose their jobs, their pensions, and possibly their freedom and R2KBA.

Indeed, however they are being investigated for doing it many times over.
(I am presuming the OPs F-I-L isnot making this a habit)

Never the less, OP: no reason to bug your F-I-L and do all the hoop to hoop stuff when SSE is 100% Legal.

                            Bingo.
100% legal and in no way involves anything that anyone can ever call into ethical question.

I don't understand how the single shot configuration is legal.

Can someone point me to the sticky on that, or explain it.

It sounds like a really weak loop hole but maybe if it was explained better I would think differently.

FYI, I have to use this gun at a POST academy.
Not sure how I would explain how I obtained the firearm if I was in the unlikely event to explain how I came into possession.

BTW to some of the naysayers: Dros would be 3 dollars cheaper but then I have to wait. I can obtain the firearm much quicker by just paying for the transfers. This way he isn't selling it, and looking shady, he is handing it down to family members.
