Noob question about CZ springs

The other day I tried removing the recoil spring on my CZ SA slide. It's really stuck onto the recoil spring plug. Try as I might, I could not pull it off, and I stopped because I didn't know if I was stretching the spring out. Is there some sort of trick to this I'm not aware of? I've owned Sigs, S&W, Kahr, Springfields, never had this problem before.

The opening on the spring is bigger on one end than the other. You have it in the wrong end. Try turning the rod clockwise as you pull the rod out.

Sorry should have been clearer. This is the way it came to me from the factory. I was intending to take it down for cleaning, and when I got to the spring it was stuck real good on the plug. I never replaced, removed, or messed with it before.

Neither had I. Mine slipped right off. How is it stuck? Does it look like it melted onto the guide rod? The factory guide rods are polymer so that's all I can think of. Unless the previous user glued or epoxy'd it.

You can always get those parts, very cheaply as well, from CZ Custom in AZ.

Nope, not glued or melted on. It looks like one of the spring was smaller than the diameter of the plug, and it just got jammed on. Maybe I'll just cut it off with wire cutters, I'm planning on getting a 16# for it anyway.
