Plastic Casings.

I just bought some 9mm and .45mm ammo at big 5, I was a little short on cash so decided to go for the really cheap stuff I normally don't buy. It was on sale - like $10 a box of 50.

The ammo is Blazer brand.

Now when I opened it, the ammo shell is plastic! Ive never run into this before. Is this going to cause anything I should be aware of?

Are hyou sure it wasn't aluminum??? Shoot the aluminum 9mm all the time. It is good stuff at a reasonable cost. Buy in bulk, it is cheaper.

We've never had an issue. I've probably fired 1500 or so round of 9mm in my Beretta and the boyfriend probably has 2k through one of his Sigs. No worries from either of us.

I saw those last time I was at Big 5 too, but I am fairly new to shooting so I didn't know if Blazer was a dependable brand. I've shot Magtech, American, Federal, and Winchester White (yummy).

Are Blazers worth getting in to?

The Blazers are much cleaner than the Winchester value packs. If you buy in bulk, they are usually cheaper too. If you don't mind ammo that is a little dirty or don't like buying in bulk. Walmart has the 100 round value packs for $11 (9mm) and $15 (40 S&W).

In terms of dirtyness, the worst mass-market ammo I know is Federal American Eagle, followed by Remington UMC and Winchster white box.

You must have forgot about Wolf. That is probably the worst I have seen.

banning steel cases is retarded. Did they never hear about the quick and easy 'sort by magnet'? A $6 magnetic pick up rod at home depot will sort them in about 10 seconds. Maybe offer to buy them one if you shoot wolf?

I stopped buying Wolf .45 as it sticks in the chambers of match guns (and sometimes jams so hard it has to be pounded open).

There are actual plastic cased bullets available in .223. You can tell because they look like the grey off a plastic stock.

Wolf is always a last resort...Although I must admit their German made shotgun slugs aren't too bad, but then again, it is always easier to clean a shotgun.

CCI is what I always practice with. My range no longer allows aluminum or steel cases so I shoot CCI's Blazer Brass, just as clean and no hassle from the range masters.

Wolf is never a resort for me. Too afraid of the long-term effects for steel casing on steel barrel.

Wolf for the Mosin 91/30,44, and 38 are fine though - no stuck cases like the surplus silvertips do sometimes . Tried the 45 ACP in a friends Rhineland vz24 mod and it was fine

Blazer's works great in my 1911 ( I always police my own cases so no one cares about it )
