    Compact 45 ACP

Hey guys, I have a Ruger SR9c, I love it!!! However, I'm thinking about getting something in .45 ACP that's compact and semi-auto, any recommendations? Ruger doesn't have one that I can see(maybe I'm missing it).

Glock 36, single-stacked .45 ACP 6+1 capacity. Low and manageable recoil. I swear by it as it's my daily carry weapon.

How compact? HK USP Compact, Kimber Ultra CDP II custom shop, and a Glock 30 are my smaller .45s. All different, but all sweet. Lots of choices. Polymer or not? 1911 or not? Double stack or not? Shoot a few to narrow it down for yourself.

The Glocks I've held(21, 19, 17) all had thick grips that we not comfortable to me, I'm thinking SR9c compact haha, I havn't tried anything you listed, but I can start there. I don't like subcompact though. Like LCP small.

In development (full size or c don't know), would not count on one for about a year (year later point where the .40 was released this year).
Email Ruger...thats all they will answer.

I would wait until next month's shot show to make a decision.

It's only natural progression for pistols, 9mm's then .40sw, then the .45acp.

I don't plan to make a decision for another 3 to 6 months, plenty of time to try them out and see what comes out.

That should be my next Glock purchase.
I got a G30SF. I felt both in the store and didn't think the grip size was a big issue.
I was shooting with some friends, and had a chance to shoot the 36, and I think I made a big mistake.

Almost bit the bullet and bought one of these a while back but went with the 9 instead due to the cost of ammo (I don't reload ).

The only experience I have with a compact .45 is my Glock 36. It shoots very well and is easy to handle. It's light weight and easy to carry. Concealment is easier than a lot of guns because the frame is thin. Reliability has been perfect for several thousand rounds and it is rather easy to be accurate with, especially shooting within 10 yards.

I carried the G36 on my CCW permit and thought I would never replace it with another gun but I really like revolvers so I ended up with 3 revolvers on my permit. If I was allowed 4 guns I would put the G36 back on the permit. The main reason I removed it is that I shoot revolvers best and I prefer not to have to pick up brass after I shoot.

I went back and forth between the G36 and Glock 30SF before I bought a compact .45 and chose the G36 because the thin frame is a lot easier to conceal. I really like the G30SF but for a CCW gun the G36 wins for me. If you just want a compact .45 but don't plan on concealing it I would choose the Glock 30SF due to increased capacity and ability to accept Glock 21 mags.

RIA makes an officers 1911 with a bull barrel, it looks pretty cool TBH. Go check it out.

Smith & Wesson model 457. Great shooter very underrated.
