Series 70 Gold Cup value

I finally decided to get a custom/production 1911 in 9mm. Wanted one for a long time.

When its gets to the point when I will have to pay for it , I MAY have to sell My Colt Gold Cup Series 70 .

I don't have the box or manual. The gun is really minty in 99% condition and all original.

I would like to know how it should be priced for an easy sale here on Calguns?

Once I decide to sell it I will be looking for an easy sale with no trades.

I see them all over the place. I don't want to start high and look at offers. Also this is not going to be a "fire sale" either.

Just want to price it at fair market value.

Opinions are appreciated.

I've seen the prices on Gold Cups all over the place, but I would consider $1100-1200 to be a good fair price. $1500 would probably be on the high side. NIB Series 70 Gold Cups bring around 2k from what I have seen.

1500.00 form mine seems a bit high to me. There is no box or papers and it was fired . VERY little , but is was. Also it was made in 1981 and has small letters on the slide . ( big letter guns seems to bring more)

I have seen them all over the place too. The one with big letters and NIB do bring 1700-1800 +.

I just want to get the feel for the local market , so when I am ready to sell , it will be priced for an easy sale.

Is it a true NM or one of the later "NM" in name only models? Try checking the SN so you can find out when it was made. Not all NM 70s are equal in value, some were true NM quality, while others were just series 70s with NM engraved by the factory for namesake. This will have weight on the value.

This is NOT a pre series National Match. Its a 1981 ( series 70 were made form 1970-1983).

A Colt Commercial National Match pistols where made form 1930's till 1970.

They are hand fitted at the factory , have lighter slides and solid match bushing. They are made to be used with miled target loads.

From 1970-1983 Colt made Series 70 MKIV Gold Cup National Match.

Then we wouldn't be talking about a Series 70 Gold Cup National Match; Dexter9659 indicated there were two different "versions" of Series 70 National Matches; I've never seen a different variant and wanted to learn more.

Ive handled the pre-war National Matches before, and they're in a price league all their own due to the limited quantity built, finish and collectability. However their accuracy is matched or exceeded by a number of semi-custom and custom 1911's nowdays.

Nice, that's how much mine was except a few years older. Also at 99% but mine has the larger roll mark.
