magtech .45

I took my hk usp45 out for its first run with me, and unloaded 200 rounds of winchester fmj, then I got to my last box of 20 (magtech gold guardian 230gr +p jhp) I read some people had problems feeding, or jamming, and also saw a picture of the bullet not even trying to expand after being shot.

Anyways the first couple worked fine, then all of a sudden, jammed like a *****, I tried for a good 5 minutes trying to clear it, then my buddy tried for another 5, and finally got it to POP into place and shot it out. For home defence ammo, I would say this is a no no.

But the USP handled like a dream out of all the guns I shot yesterday, it was def my favorite, I'm glad I own it.

How did it jam?.... What kind of malfunction?

5 minutes to clear a jam? I can't think of anything that takes 5 minutes unless it was a squib, makes no sense to me.

I don't know, the slide was stuck shut, it had about a 1/4 inch to go to be fully forward. He got it the rest of The way some how and fired it. It didn't feed correctly I suppose and just seized up. Sorry I don't know gun terms, kinda new at it

Next time instead of forcing the cartridge to go into battery it's better to just eject it and not use it. Unless you want to significantly increase the possibility of you damaging your fine handgun (insert brand here) or it exploding in your hands from over pressure.

Failure to go into battery... but then seized up too? So confused..

I had a failure to go into battery with my USP45 two days ago, and I couldn't put it back into battery so I just ejected the round no problemo...

Having it not go into battery AND locking up seems like maybe the extractor claw grabbed the rim of the cartridge, but the shell was out of spec and a little to large or something...

It would not eject, like I said, it seized up, slide would not pull back or spring forward, tried with mag in and out. We just had to giggle it for 10 mins until something wiggled free a little bit, then he was able to slap the slide forward the 1/4 inch

Hmmm, I've had a similiar issue when shooting my 9mm 1911. I think it was the ammo (they were reloads). I had a guy working there help me get it out. He took out the mag, held the slide, and slammed the grip/frame forward. Took a couple tries, but I had to do that on a couple occasions

I bought a batch of 230gr FMJ .45 ACP Magtech ammo about 10 months ago. Went through it just fine 100% without any issues in a Kimber Custom II 1911. I bought the Magtech because at the time it was cheaper than the other stuff (CCI, PMC, Federal, WWB).

I did instead get CCI Blazer Brass instead he next time since the bullet face looks more shiny and slick, and just felt better to where it would feed better onto the feed ramp (not that I had problems to begin with, I just wanted to eliminate that possibility). I've had good luck with CCI Blazer Brass and PMC in .45 ACP 230 grain.
