Does anyone know who makes the Magwells for their guns? I really like the TACOPS 1911 with the Magwell but it's not on roster. So I'm going with the normal railed version but want to add a Magwell that matches the finish. Any input would appreciated.

I'm not to sure about the nitro finish, but I put a Fusion magwell on my Sig GSR

Nice magwell.
The railed sig looks nice, identical to my XO minus the rail. Some say the front strap serrations feel like a meat tenderizer, but then again those are probably the fellas that use a "moisturizer"

How does your Sig shoot?

I have the 1911R-45-SSS railed .45, and it's a tack driver. Love that piece. Very accurate, good trigger take up, very smooth, zero FTF/FTE's. I'm planning on replacing a few of the MIM parts, although they are super clean production pieces, and there are very few in the gun to begin with. They're really well built, very high quality guns for a sub $1000 price. I see them go regularly in the $800-1000 range new.

Very nice, my favorite pistol. Accurate too.
The factory mags that come with the 1911s from sig are not the best, the only thing I have done was switch out the factory 16lb spring for an 18.5, got chip and Wilson mags. Only thing I would recommend is that you use a grease like milcomm

Sounds like my sig 1911. The mags it came with weren't that great, wilson 47d's are awesome. I did have to take the trigger out and polish the edges of the hole for the overtravel screw though. $2 dremel rubber polishing bit(the small pointy one) solved that in about 5 seconds.

When you changed the recoil spring, was it because it had issues going back into battery? I haven't had that happen since I've been using just the wilson mags.

Regarding the checkering that someone commented on earlier. Yeah, if you have ***** hands I could see it being a problem. However that doesn't mean you need callouses to deal with it. I spend most of my day typing on a keyboard, but I still don't have ***** hands. You know the type I'm talking about. When you go to shake another man's hand and it feels like you're about to crush their hand like a saltine and you aren't even trying, most women have a better handshake than that.



The finish only looks uneven because of the reflection of the magazine from the camera flash and a couple oil spots.

I have only put 100 rounds through it so far. VERY nice gun for the money. The Nitron finish (which is IonBond) is fantastic. That's usually anywhere from $275-$400 by itself if you were to get it done on an existing gun. The gun is very accurate, I was able to shoot 2" groups at 10 yards. It does have an external extractor which not everyone is into. Sig 1911's have quite a few hand fitted parts (stated by an inside gunsmith from Sig) and are the best guns Sig makes currently. Overall I don't think there is a nicer 1911 with the features for the money.

The stock triggers are also set at about 5 to 5 1/2 lbs. Sig Custom shop will take them down to 4 lbs if you want, as well as other work they offer. They say that having anyone else work on them will void the lifetime warranty, but I'm not too worried about that. The fit is tight and everything operates really smooth. I like to use lightweight / high temperature rated turbine oil in my guns, and I tend to run them fairly wet. I also clean them religiously after each session which typically entails 300-400 rounds.

Everyone I've come across raves about the Sig 1911's, and that was one of the reasons I went that route myself. They are reputed to be quality pieces right out of the box and I wasn't disappointed. I'd say they are about the best deal dollar wise for a production gun, considering almost all of the parts are American made (including the frames), few MIM parts, plenty of hand fitting at the factory, and they retain the reliability Sig is known for.

Dealing with Sig Customer Service is another story altogether as they aren't famous for being the easiest company to deal with (they could learn a lesson from Ruger or HK, those guys are awesome), but having said that, Sig is putting a ton of effort into keeping their 1911 fans happy with good product and their workmanship is top rate beyond the sales droids on the phones.

Sig mags are fine, but some guys have had a few issues and leave the Sig mags in the range bag. I've got 4 and haven't had any issues, but I only carry with Wilson 47D mags which are the 1911 gold standard for reliability.

I'd happily buy a few more Sig 1911 variants if I wasn't currently lusting after a Wilson Combat piece.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was running into with the Sig mags.
