Aluminum cased?

So palmetto state factory has boxes of CCI BLazer 50 rnds .45 ACP for like 14$. Hell of a deal. Catch is, it's aluminum cased. Is it the same as metal casing you'd see with wolf and tulammo? I'm shooting a Glock 21 and i'm pretty sure the two test casing that came with it were CCI Blazer. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Main question; Is running aluminum just the same as running steel cased?

No experience with this but ive wondered the same. Cheaper than brass but softer and less damaging than steel.

Steel and aluminum would be completely different.

Steel is cheapest, aluminum 2nd and brass is more expensive than the 2.

Strength would be Steel>Aluminum>Brass

Blazer Aluminum is awesome ammo. Also good for mobile SHTF because the ammo weighs so much less than brass cased.

I tried my first box of it in 9mm 124 gr. I just added it to my online order of handgun magazines to get free shipping or something. All 50 fired just fine, no problems. I wouldn't hesitate to get 10-20 boxes. Kind of weird but I liked the plastic cartridge holder thing that they come in. I saved it for future reloading. Might want to double check no cartridges have cracks in them, just in case. Really like CCI for rimfire and this Blazer just felt and looked nice when examining them.

Ive run many cases of 9mm and about a case and a half of 45 aluminum cased ammo over the years. It's good to go in everything I own 1911s, Sig Sauers, HKs, Glocks and Uzis.

I've never had a problem with it and use it a lot (in several calibers). But I'm now thinking of getting into reloading so there goes my cheap source of ammo for plinking.

If you reload, then go brass. Otherwise, I don't think Aluminum would damage your gun's steel chamber/breech face.

Being that the type of steel in steel cased ammo is chosen for its low cost, you can bet it's a low grade steel with a relatively low yield. The yield is likely in the same neighborhood as higher grades of aluminum. The steel is much softer than the parts of your gun that it interacts with and it's also coated with a much softer material to limit corrosion, so wear issues with steel casings is a not a problem. Bare aluminum casings actually pose a greater chance of causing noticeable wear due to the highly abrasive layer of oxide they carry on their surface.

All that being said, I doubt you would ever have wear issues with either. I think that the only real drawback to steel and al ammo as long as your gun likes em is that it's not the kinda stuff you'd reload. Just buy it cuz it's cheap and shoot it.

Overall I've had decent results with Blazer Aluminum, there were a few times that a couple of my pistols (can't remember which ones) had FTFeed issues with them due to the slight, some what porous, texture of the aluminum, nothing major though, and pretty standard to clear.

I don't reload, so anytime I see the stuff available I snatch it up. Specially in .38spl and .357, since with revolvers I don't have to worry about the cases rubbing against each other and possibly sticking or slowing down the feeding.

I like the feel of that texture Really weird. Stuff looks really clean too. I've had some cruddy looking Winchester white box.

I know what you mean. It shouldn't matter, but I like the way the .38spls look, the lead slug is black, looks really modern with the matt aluminum case.
