I have this on my XD9 and it only cost $30. Even have strobe feature.
The Neebo/NcStar/Ebay special is the biggest POS light ever, complete garbage. It works good on my BB gun, but that's about it. They're all made the same and come from the same factory in China. I've had 4 go out on me personally while shooting them with 9mm pistols (I bought 1, and tested the other 3.... 2 were given to me for free so I couldn't complain). I've seen 7 others personally go out as well from shooting at the range. For $30, it's not even worth it. Not to mention it's no where as near bright as a TLR-1s (which is what I run) or a X300. I think the reports on it was around 80-90 lumens.

Well I have 2 myself on a 9mm Glock and a .45 1911, and I've put 400+ rounds through the Glock and around 250 rounds through the 1911, leaving the light on the gun for both. The light still works great and functions flawlessly after so many rounds.

The only thing I don't like is the anodized finish on the TLR-1s. Since it sticks out in front of the barrel on my G19, it looks like the head or powder blast took some of the anodizing off of the light housing. This did nothing to the performance of the light, but just made a 'haze' look on the top of the light housing.

The anodized finish is the exact same as the one on the TLR-1, correct? I wonder if there is any way to prevent this from happening. Hmm.

I've read/heard that the X300 has a "mil-spec" anodized finish, so it's supposed to be tougher and more durable than the anodizing on the TLR lights.

I can't say for sure since I haven't had a chance to play with both side by side and shoot with both, but thanks to the OP's info he sent me I may just get a X300 and play with it and compare it to my TLR-1s.

Yeah I own a TLR3 and the left side rail/mount broke b/c it is made of plastic. Sent it in to Streamlight for a replacement last week.

Good to hear. I dont hate surefire products, but my G17 seems to love my TLR1s. The last time I went to my ukiah range this guy kept saying oh dude.....take that light off its going to cause a jam. I looked at him with a puzzled look and he said no joke, you wont get a magazine through that thing without it flexing the frame and jamming.

Never had an issue with mine and its hundred less than a surefire. And more lumens! The only knock I have against it is the screw and clip piece that hold the batteries in, I have to wipe down as I use them otherwise it gets a bronzed color going on. Its not rust, but a strange bronze color. It hasnt gotten worse or better.

On two occasions both of the mounts failed and the light flew off the gun during a string of fire.

I'm talking about 10-15 times that amount of rounds, for what it's worth.
We in Bangor, Maine now baby.

The only times I've ever seen a polymer gun not shoot or cycle properly from a TLR light is because they torqued down the screw as tight as they could. You only need to hand tighten it, then use coin and go another quarter turn and it will stay in place with hundreds of rounds through it and no problems.

On that note where the TLR lights require a tool to secure it to the picatinny rail, does the X300 require any tools to tighten it down when mounting onto a gun?

Both options come with the Surefire from the box a permanent and a quick release.

Right on, I figured as such. I heard of early issues with the .40's but they guy kept saying I hope you dont use that for HD, its going to have issues. I went through atleast 10-12 mags in just a bit, no issues. Some people like spreading fud. Either way Surefire/Streamlight are the way to go nowadays. I'd love to grab a M3 but for the same price and not being as bright or a LED its kinda getting pointless.

permanent allows me to insure it, as it is a part of the weapon.

How does the X300 compare to the X200? I have a 5 year old X200 and it seems to be a bit shorter in length than the X300.
