I have only shot in ranges here in LA but growing up in Canada we would just drive out to the woods, find a spot with a natural back drop and shoot. Is that legal in California?

1. if it's private property, make sure you have permission from the land owner
2. if it's public property, be safe...some public land you can shoot on, and some you can't, so do your homework
