How did *you* solve being low and left?

I'm good to go on other handguns, but my H&K I am consistantly low and left. It's a curious thing and Ive never had that happen to this degree before.

I've read up on this primarly being due to milking, finger placement on trigger, or other trigger control issues, grip on backstrap, etc.

I'm keeping notes for my next time out.

First with factory sights and still with new sights that were installed and regulated so I do not think it is the firearm. I'll sandbag it to be sure though.

What worked for you that have had a particular handgun throw you for a low and left loop?

it could be anything, sights, grip, or just the way the gun is and how you shoot it.
my 1911 hits where i aim, my sig shoots 4 inches right so i adjusted the sights.

Is it a tight group low and left or a spread? If it's a tight group, then I would suspect it is the point of aim not matching the point of impact. If it is a spread, then I would suspect the shooter.

It's not tight. With my Sig or Revolver I am.

Hmm - I was afraid you would say that... I'm not qualified to give advice on grip, etc. Good luck!!

Snap cap practice! Best way to see what the issue is IMO.

I had the same problem, all my shots went left and low, nice grouping though. But this diagram actually helped. Try it out.

Dry fire. Then more dry fire. No muscle memory until you've performed an action 1,000+ times. Put a piece of tape on the wall (or corner of the television), and practice aiming at it and squeezing the trigger. Make sure that your sights never leave the point of aim with every trigger pull.

If it were a nice tight group it'd be a simple fix, adjust your sights. Since it's a spread, it's an issue with your grip, finger placement, and/or trigger control. Not surprising (or uncommon) with a trigger pull as long as that of the HKs.

I'd suggest trying a ball and dummy drill on your next range trip. Have someone else load your rounds, mix up 3 snap caps into your 10 rd mags and focus on a consistent grip and slow steady trigger pull. Pull straight to the rear, focusing on your front sight the whole time, and try not to anticipate the pistol firing. This can also give you some practice with immediate action if you want to mix that in, but it may hinder the work on your trigger control.

Also, dry fire. Clear the gun, clear the room, just don't have any ammunition anywhere in sight. Then sit somewhere and dry fire. Whether it's at a target you taped to the wall or a fixed point in the room, just spend half an hour pulling through the DA trigger pull and focusing on consistency and steadiness. A good backdrop (fireplace, etc) is a good idea, just make sure the gun is clear.

I'm sure that all seems redundant and I don't mean it to sound condescending. It is a common problem, especially when switching between different styles of pistols (rev -> SA, SA -> DA, etc). I have the same problem with the first few rounds when I pick up my Sig or S&W since I normally only shoot 1911s.

ETA: lol... I was typing that up in between helping customers and it looks like everyone beat me to it, oh well. Screw Black Friday by the way....

I think that you forgot to mention these as well: dryfire, dryfire, dryfire, and dryfire.

I do the snap cap thing quite often with all my handguns, but I'll spend more time on it with the HK though. But nothing seems different between the HK or the Sig in that regard.

I don't see the sight picture moving low and left with snapcaps,
it's like something is happening at the moment the pin hits the primer that I can't see with a snapcap.

I've read about bumping method as well, I'll give that a try.
The HK has polymer trigger and it does flex unlike a metal one.
