    Glock G20 question

I am almost decided on a full size Glock G20 10mm for my open carry side arm while on my property way in the AZ desert boonies. (about 80 mi N. of Mexico) I guess there are few generations of Glocks so does it really make any difference which generation for the G20 10mm

The glock 20 has a pretty large grip. So if your hands are not that big look into the glock 20sf (slim frame). Only difference between the generations, gen 3 has a rail

Only difference between the generations, gen 3 has a rail
      and finger grooves....

FWIW I have a gen 3 glock 20 with medium hands, and it fits fine.
Yes, a little thicker than my glock 17, but it still feels pretty good to me.
Had the glock 29, and it felt chunkier only because of the shorter slide.
The 20 is the same thickness, but the larger frame seems to spread out the heft more.

But if I could've found a glock 20 gen 2, I would have bought it over the gen three, just because I am not particularly fond of the finger grooves, but the rail might be handy sometime if I want accessories, and the rail does look kewl.

They are not as common as the glock 21, and I had to wait about a month to find one for the right price.

The (not released yet, and I do not think any time soon) Gen4-20's are suppose to have a dual recoil set-up, vs. the Gen3-20 have a single spring.
IMO: for the hot loads, the dual spring is a added benefit, I like to have in the 10mm platform.
The Gen3-29's already have a dual spring set-up, is what I have currently.

I guess the usual, if you dislike the rail and finger grooves, Gen2 would be your choice.

that double spring sounds nice can it be migrated over from the 29 to the 20? If not surely there are good single springs availble for the hotter loads. I've been watching some youtube vids on the G20 sure looks good.

Hello Hunt....you couldn't pick a better weapon for everyday holster carry than a Glock 20.

15 rounds plus 1...or if you get the Arredongo Mag extensions which bring you up to 20 rounds.

I have no problem with the grip on my Glock 20 or 21 (.45)...or the G29 which is my favorite.

For pig hunting I'am building a lonewolf Longslide...Glock 20 frame with an extended 6 inch barrel and slide..(in stainless)

I just shot 150 rounds of max velocity handloads today without a single issue.

If you get the GLOCK 20, Walmart has a neat holster for $18.97 (I know, it's expensive..hahaha)...but it has a mag carrier and while it works for the large framed Glocks, it also works for my longslide project.

"Blackhawk Sportster ambi with mag pouch" Number 5. Works both sides and has belt loops in addition to the clip...not bad and would be good for the Ranch.

I run another GLOCK 20 as well. Consider reloading if you like plinking.

            Be well, Bob

Single recoil spring is kinda nice because you can put exactly the lb of spring you want. Using a 22lb captured ISMI recoil spring works the best in a G20 with stout loads.

I don't blame you. Actually a properly set up GLOCK 20 (Short frame probably) with proper ammo/sights and practice is just perfect for any situation you might encounter. They shoot like a Laser and the muzzle energy at 100 yards is more than a .45 at the muzzle.

You can also run .40 barrels, 9X25 barrels and .357SIG barrels in the same gun using the same magazines.!

I have one set up for 9X25 (2000 FPS and extremely fast and accurate)...in one of my GLOCK 20s with a RED DOT SCOPE and extended barrel. Sighted in at 150 yards she can reach out and tag just about anything you can see.

With the 20 round magazine she has plenty of accurate firepower on hand.

A real HOOT to shoot...large fireball, the range guy shouting....hehehe

The G20 is the only glock I have and probably the only glock I will ever have.

It's a sickness Joe.....one gun or one caliber is never enough. One thing for sure is if you're going to shoot a lot of 10MM....think seriously about reloading.

all this makes me want a G20 even more now. I am handloaing for my rifle now so no big deal to start on a pistol. I like the idea that if I am out at my place in the boonies and have to encounter multiple targets I may only get one shot at each so that it better have a little punch to it. I was watching a video of a guy shooting through 2 4x4 posts with 230 gr bullet that is some serious punch for a semi auto handgun, then he was knocking over pig and ram iron targets at a surprising distance for a handgun. Looks like the G20 is next on my purchase list.
