    Charter Arms 357

Found one today on consignment for $225. It's the long barrel around six inches. In clean condition just normal wear it looks like. Wondering if this is a good buy? I'm not looking to spend much more for an alternative.

    Thanks

For the money Charter Arms revolvers are descent. But I would only buy one as a fun range gun. I wouldn't trust my life with one and would likely stock up on extra high ware parts and springs. For $225 though I'd ad her to my collection. I almost bought one a few years back but the gun shop salesman talked me into a Bersa .380 instead which was around the same price as the OP's revolver in question.

I wouldn't pass it up for $225 if it looks like it is in good shape. My friend has a Charter Arms in .44 special that shoots great.

This guy sure doesn't have good things to say about the Charter Arms 357 Target:

                Two things:

                1) Obviously a $225 Charter Arms revolver is not going to be the same quality as a $800 S&W. The comparison can be made, but should be done so with some context. The guy in that video seems to expect S&W quality out of his budget revolver.

                2) He is sending the gun back because the sights give him a POI 3" low at 5 yards... Did he try shooting it at 10 yards? 15 yards? His hits would have probably been in the bullseye at around 10 yards based on the target he displays. There is nothing wrong with the gun.

Thats a good price for a 6" 357. I would buy it. If you would not mind, you could dump more money in it for a fancy trigger job and make it a good competition gun since it has the six inch on it. That is, assuming you are into competition shooting. Charter is an alright gun! There are like Rossi guns, its a damn-decent gun.

Ha, yah he did want the S&W quality. I am just looking for a play around gun, I don't do competition, just taking it out with my other guns and messing around on the weekends every so often. I'm going to go buy it tomorrow and wait my lovely ten days then finally shoot it. I'll let everyone know if I like it.
