    Colt 1911, which one?

Hi Guys- New to 1911s and was thinking of getting the XSE1980rg. Does anyone have any feedback on this model? Preferences for another model? This will be for target and defense. Thanks, Mark

    Trick Question! All of them

Go with a 5" and you will be fine. I mean you can always sell it if you don't like it.
Have you shot any of them?

I have not and the range I go to does not have them. I have shot Springfield and Kimber, is there much of a difference shooting them?

if you want a classic GI looking pistol id go for the O1991

if you want a production custom, more modern looking pistol id go for the O1980XSE

+1 I have the O1991 Model and it is a fantastic handgun! I just shot it for the first time today, put almost 200 rounds through it with zero problems. Very accurate too

I kinda like this one. They have one at my local gunshop but for $1995 they asking for that's too much.

For a modern colt I recommend:

                    Colt XSE

Colt Rail Gun(basically an XSE with a rail)

Colt 1991(Recent, Classic, simple GI Colt)

                    Colt Series 70 reproduction

                    Colt Gold Cup

The Colt XSE and the 1991 are on the roster and much easier to acquire. If the roster is not an issue to you or if you live near a shop that does single shot exemption, the other ones wont be problem to acquire.

Out of all the ones I listed, the Colt 1991 would be the cheapest one and the more expensive ones are the Rail Gun and the Gold Cup.

This is my Colt XSE, I love it. I don't like the rail very much on Colts, it's a bit too bulky. I have night sights so I don't need a rail:
