I will soon be buying the XDM Comp in 40 and 45. These will just be range toys, don't plan on competing, and I picked the comp for the same reasons Socom1 listed. Now if only I can find a place in Socal that does SSE on them. I contacted DAS in San Diego, but they don't do XDM's.

Got my XDM45 from PRK in Fresno

and as a side note, SA does not recognize the SSE as an offiicial sale of an XDM pistol so they won't honor the free mag offer. At least they did not honor it for me and another fellow Calgunner when we bought XDMs last year with the same free mag offer.

I remember reading a post on here where a guy said SA sent the standard capacity mags to the FFL he bought the gun from and they gave him the mags as rebuild kits.

Even though if they are offering 10rd mags?

Here's the link to the Gear up Promo from SA and just below of the big banner you will see this: "Click here to see a chart of what magazines are included in this promotion."

              SA mag promo chart

That will bring up a pdf and showing you what size of mag it will ship. This will really suck if it's true.

Well i have a glock g19 and that could be used for HD. But anyhow I will have 2 HD pistols/range queens at hand.

As for crap getting inside the slide, it will most likely be dust and what not and that won't effect its function. Or maybe bugs and what not may want to sleep in there but i assume that won't stop the 45cal from not functioning .

Is the 45cal have a lighter spring? Can the RS be taken off and something else in place can be added? Or is it permanent?

Is the FO sight some what decent in low light?

I ask this cause i never own a pistol with adjustable RS and FO site. Well i think my browning 9 had adjustable RS but i was younger and didn't care to much about it until it got stolen . Die who ever stole my precious. Sorry for ranting

                2. More room for crap to work its way in with a slide cut. While this isnt a big deal for most people, it matters how your firearm is stored/maintained
                3. Adjustable rear sights. I like solid sights, specifically night sights, just a preference.
                4. In the 9mm, not sure in the .45, the recoil spring is lighter weight (at least thats what they were advertising), not ideal unless you are running lighter loads since it will beat up on the frame.

If its a range pistol, do it do it. The FO and adjustable rear sight will be awesome. For HD, Id look another route.

I bought an XDM45 and received my 3 free mags and pouch. Purchased mine last month and only took about 3 weeks for my mags.

From what I understand, Springfield will only ship the 3 free mags if you purchase the .45 cal versions. Springfield Armory does not make XDm magazines in 10 round configurations for 9mm or .40 cal - only the .45. So - if you are hoping to get an XDm and are hoping for the free magazine promotion, you are in luck only if you are purchasing the .45 version.

Personally - I purchased a XDm 9mm Compact via PPT and LOVE IT! It is my first Springfield and am thinking of hurrying down to my FFL and picking up a regular XD just to take advantage of that promo...

That's correct. I called SA after I submitted my rebate to double check with them and the rep said only for the .45 cal. Glad I went with the 45.

mine is a 9mm. I shipped them to a ffl out of state who will send them to me as kits and then I will block them to 10 rounds.

Depends, not something id like to throw in to an HD gun either way.

Again, not 100% sure if the 45 has it, but it can be switched out.

Its meh. FO sites depend on light to make them glow, unlike nite sights
