Which Model CZ 75 to Choose?

I dont think its worth the premium. It really depends on what classifications you want to shoot, and what YOUR preferences are on a gun.

Personally, the shadow stuff while it is nice, its more then what I like/need. Adjustable sights, and a neglible pull differnce due to a lack of FPB. The slide lockup/barrel lock up is the same on both. Ive seen some questionable stuff from CZcustom on the cz forms compared to what some of the other CZ smiths work.

    sorry short response, on phone.

The only advantage of getting the Shadow is for competing in Sanctioned matches. Most local matches play fast and loose with some of the rules. Otherwise, any CZ75 B model can have a fine tuned Shadowlike trigger by removing the firing pin block and lifter. The most significant upgrade is to get a CGW modified stock hammer or the CZ Competition hammer to eliminate creep, camming, and to have a nicer break.

      IDPA
CZ75 Shadow/Target is legal for SSP if you have a SA/DA trigger and you start Hammer Down.
CZ75 Shadow/Target is legal for IDPA in ESP.
SPO1 (Shadow or not) is legal for SSP if you can get the weight with Magazines down to 39 ounces. This is accomplished with plastic grips, 10 round mags, and some minor part swapping. This will also make it legal for ESP as long as it is still legal in SSP.

If you have any mechanical skills at all, you can perform all of the triggerwork you need if you buy the parts and have some basic tools. The CZ Forum has some great writeups.

        Spot on.

Only thing I would throw in is starting from a CZ 75SA, then upgrading to a CGW kit + CZ85 trigger to make it a DA/SA to shoot production. I personally feel that the upgraded safety, beavertail, and factory free fall mag break are worth it.

Sorry for the little thread jack, but could you guys explain in layman's terms what the advantage would be to getting the CGW kit4 for my P-01? Looking at various videos and faqs, it looks completely doable for me but I'm not sure if I need it. Only trigger job I've had done was the PRP Ultimate match kit for my XDM. And that was a really nice improvement since it virtually eliminated over travel and shortened the pull and reset. Now, I take it the CGW kits don't do this from what I've seen. So what exactly is eliminating the"camming" of the hammer supposed to do? Mind you, my P-01's trigger has never been gritty. It was just a heavy DA which I rectified with a change to a 15# hammer spring. SA has always been pleasant and a few new friends at various ranges who've shot it also agreed. Just trying to see what exactly would I be getting with installing this kit?

It really crisp up the SA, and reduces the caming in the SA pull. Doesnt effect the DA much, thats were the spring kit and polishing come into play.

edit* reducing the caming gives it a MUCH crisper break. If you watch your hammer in SA mode, when you begin to pull the trigger it cams backwards just a touch before releasing.

If your trigger is clean enough for you you could also go with a 13lb. spring and get the extended "B" firing pin from cz custom. The longer firing pin is good insurance against light primer strikes. The 13lb. spring will bring down the double action pull a little more. Mark

I don't know what kit # 4 was but I did the beta testing for his decocker hammer and I still have it installed. I also beta tested his Extreme Reach Reduction Trigger as well, which is also still in my P01. I also installed the 8.5 lb hammer spring, the lightened firing pin spring, and an extended firing pin.

My DA pull is about 7.5 #, the decocked pull is about 6.5 #, and the single action pull is about 3.5 pounds. I can't really say for sure that the break is crisp since I am used to a nicely tuned 1911 trigger but it is much better than it was in stock form. I am sure if I ever decided to send it to Stuart, he could do a much better job than the half *** trigger job I gave my P01. If I were to consider it for CCW, I would probably go up to the 13 lb spring to raise the trigger pull weights.

The ERRK really shortens the length of the pull by a few mm. Unfortunately the P01 frame is made of aluminum, this keeps me from being able to use a rear stop screw because it gouges the frame when the trigger gets pulled. If I could figure out a way to provide a rear stop and still keep it IDPA legal, it would probably be the funnest gun I own.

The stock rubber grips are excellent, no point in switching those out. I replaced the front sight with a 5.5 mm Fiber optic sight from CZ customs and I blacked out and rounded the bottom of the rear sights.

The gun is suprisingly accurate and I was able to maintain 1 inch shot groups the first time I fired it at 7 yards. Unfortunately, it has been neglected these last few months.

Ive been considering the ERRK kit next, just wish he could do one in the stock 75SA shape.

Someone mentioned the 13# mainspring, if you drop the FPB and the firing pin spring a little bit, its reliable. If you want to go lower, CGW offers an ultra lite spring kit along with an extended firing pin.

He can, if you supply the trigger. I left the FPB in, I just polished it and I did install the CGW FPB spring. There is no stacking in the pull as well.

The CGW 8.5 # hammer spring, firing pin spring, and the extended firing pin spring will reliably detonate Winchester small pistol primers and federal small pistol and federal small rifle primers. I could load up some CCI and Wolf Primers in the near future.

the SAO trigger doesnt have the right cuts for the DA pull, otherwise I would. I talked to him about trying to cut it to work, but was a no go.

Im going to put a couple thousand more rounds threw it before I do anymore spring work on it, want to break in the sp01 tac a bit more before messing with it much more.

Thanks guys for all the info. There is soooo much info to take in, my head is going to explode.

I am strongly thinking about just getting a plain jane 75B, saving the extra money, and shooting the darn thing and then figure out what I want to do with it. It sounds like there are many mods that can be done once I have a better idea what I like or don't like.

                        Thanks again!
