Does anyone know the diffrence between the new German made P226 and the curent P226? From photos the extractor and the top of the ejection port look diffrent. And the German slide is carbon steel (stamped I think), not blued milled stainless slide. Both have rails. Any diffrences I am missing?

German Sig P226 diffrences?

You pretty much got it. German is 100% made in Germany. Marked, proofed, etc. Folded carbon steel slide, internal extractor. Also comes with night sights. I could be wrong but I also believe the German models don't have any MIM parts.
I bought one of these (German 226) couple months ago. Very sweet pistol. Pretty much shoots lasers at the distances I shoot it at, 10 yards. -

The decocking spring and and take down lever are also different if I remember correctly.
Lastly, minor difference but the older German SIGs came with hollow metal guide rods in stead of plastic on the current production SIG P-series.

It depends on which version of the P226 German you have. The one I have came with a stainless steel slide, external extractor, and E2 grips. From what I can tell, mine is identical to the current 226 except for the German proofmarks."The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money."

On the German model, 7.835% of your purchase finds its way to Greece.
On the American made model, a little under 16% goes to our government to let guns go to Mexico.

hahah, very true.
There all good buys OP, it cant hurt to have the german one, but I shot another Exeter model last week, I loved it.Comment

I had a P226 made in Exeter and shot perfectly fine. Don't see what the hype is about German ones as long as they're just as reliable and shoot just as great.

Just shot my new to me 93 W. German 226 for the first time yesterday. Man that thing is awesome! I was nailing the bulls eye at 15 feet! My wife hit the 10 ring 3 times with the first mag!
I know with the older W.German 226's they have a lighter side, due to material differences, which causes the gun to balance differently. My 226 actually weighs less than my US made 239!
I remember that there is a slightly different shape to the side top for the older ones. don't know if the current German ones still look the same.sigpic#415Comment

The big differences are the folded carbon slide with the welded on end caps and the pinned in removalable breach block. The shape difference is the flat machined into the top of the slide ahead of the ejection block. The folded slide models all had an internal extractor. Also the folded slide would flex more in recoil.
The current milled slides are all stainless one piece affairs, the dark colored ones have a coating of Nitron applied...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

P226's made in West Germany or Made in Germany SEEM to work a bit better than the later ones. SEEM to be a bit more accurate.
I HAVE SEEN MALFUNCTIONS with RECENT ( last several years) SIG's in .40 and .45 and not in 9mm.
I am an LE Instructor at work. I see mane guns being fired every week. Glocks,Sig's, Beretta 92's,HK's etc.
German (or West German) SIG's in 9mm seem to be the best in reliability department. Almost as good as a Beretta 92G or FS.
Glocks in 9mm seem to be really good too.
In my humble opinion, after many years working the LE range, I find full size pistols in 9mm to be the most reliable.
Beretta 92G and 92FS taking the first place.
Again , I am talking about DUTY/OFF DUTY/CCW use only. Not considering any other "cool" or "trendy" factors.Comment
