cz75 problem

Well, I was dry firing my beloved cz75 again and I think I broke the firing pin. Actually it has to be broken, or something else is. I usually dry fire my CZ with snap caps but this time I didn't. I knew something was wrong immediately because the familiar sound of my hammer hitting the firing pin was much louder. Upon further inspection of where the hammer hits the pin, I noticed that the back end of the firing pin was recessed into its hole a bit. Just now took apart a 9mm round and stuck the empty case with only primer in tact into the gun and pulled the trigger. No pop. No dent on the primer. No bueno.
Looks like I need to shop for a new firing pin.

Have you poped it out yet? Would be pretty hard to bust a firing pin.

No not yet, I don't actually own a set of punches.
And thats just my best guess, that its busted.

You are much more likely to have broken the retaing pin. Is the pin sticking out at all?

The pin is not protruding from either side. Normally it sticks out on the back end just enough for the hammer to make contact with it.

Still might just be the retaining pin broke and jammed the firing pin in there. Get yourself a 1/8 punch and pop that sucker open.

Try this, with the slide closed, pull the hammer and hold it back, pull trigger, and use a pencil to push the pin thats stuck in there, does it still move or is it totally bound?

Yup it moves when doing what you said.
also when I took the slide off I can still push the rear of the pin forward enough to see the front of the pin. So it moves around plenty.

you can push it forward with the slide off? that doesnt sound right, the firing pin safety should be preventing that. Can you just see it in the hole, or does it protrude.

I mean with the firing pin safety depressed I can push it forward. and I can see it in the hole.

Hmmmm. Sounds like an easy fix.

As zfields said you probably broke the roll pin that holds the firing pin in. Right in front of the rear sight there is roll pin that goes sideways through the slide. If that broke it's probably binding up the firing pin. You need to get a punch and knock out that pin to see whats going on.

Looks like I'm buying a punch set in the morning.

If you can, get roll pin punches. They have like nipple on the end that fits into the end of the roll pin so they don't slip. Also I just looked at my cz compact. I can see light through the roll pin in my slide. I would think that might be hard if your pin broke. Here's a pic of a roll pin punch.

It's actually 2 pins. I used a 1/8 punch and a slightly larger starter punch to take them out.

Oh thanks for the pic, ill know what to look for.
And i can see light right through the roll pins, a little dusty but i can see straight through them.
