    Maraviov Gunsmithing

Dropped my stuff off with Maraviov in Woodland, nice guy, doesn't seem too old or dodgey. I left him a Kimber to tweak too. Any gunsmith who takes care of my stuff will get a steady flow of work. I'm dropping off an SA loaded when I retrieve the Kimber...

I'm going to post updates here as they happen.

Over 3 months and no updates? That doesn't sound good...

Were they extensive modifications? And did he advise you up front of the wait time?
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
"What we get away with isn't usually the same as what's good for us"
"An extended slide stop is the second most useless part you can put on a 1911"

"While Ruger DA revolvers may be built like a tank, they have the aesthetics of one also,
although I suppose there are a few tanks which I owe an apology to for that remark"

woodland, not woodland hills. I tried to call him to help me out, but he said he focuses more on handguns and hunting rifles and wont do AKs. (iirc). seemed nice though.

Yeah I've had it at 2 other smiths one turned it down, the other had it for several months and wouldn't start it. Maraviov said he'd start it months ago.... It is a big job. I'm getting the feeling that smiths have to be inspired to work on a project ( I'm not trying to be funny) and since it's a big job maybe it takes a while. I'm not picking on him in particular but rather the entire smithing community...

                    Woodland CA

My experience with him is limited to two events. He adjusted/fixed my Mauser safety which didn't work after I re-triggered the weapon. He finished it by the next day and charged me almost nothing. A decade ago. I called him this summer and he quoted a really steep price to blue a rifle barrel so I figured he didn't want the bus or was busy. Or I am a cheap bastid and am not real about quality bluing jobs. He does top notch work and probably has established clientele that are Big Game bolt rifle types. All to the good.

I received a call last week saying it was done. Drove out yesterday to pick it up and low and behold he only takes cash or check. I'm going back to pick it up next week... I have to say it is gorgeous... his work is VERY good and worth the wait.

As I said in an earlier post it seems as if they need to be inspired to work on a project. I'm good with that as long as that is the expectation up front. In any case he gets a HUGE thumbs up from me. I'll start a new thread and post my first range trip findings etc.

                        So here she is...

Shoots well too... when you factor out my flinches etc I ended up with good tight groups

30ft, handfed each round as the gun will not cycle, I need to play with handloads and recoil springs

I have gone to him for years. Not always a fast turn around but worth the wait. He usually has a good back log of work to do.
