New Glock Question

Just picked up my first Glock. Do I treat the Glock like other guns and clean and lube it before I go to the range ? Some folks have told me I can shoot it straight out of the box without cleaning.

Good to go out of the box, but I prefer to swab the barrel and look things over before firing any new gun.

Take off the slide and if you see the glock grease. Go shooting.

It doesn't matter. Personally, I like to take apart any new handgun and clean and lube it. But I've bought and shot Glocks right out of the box. All guns need some lube; Glocks included, but not much.

When you take your Glock apart you will see some copper/grease on the slide ridge. Leave it there. Put only one drop of oil on the 4 slide rail points. Never any oil or lube on the firing pin channel or spring.

If this is your first, then I would read the manual, disassemble and clean/lube. You want get familiar with it to appreciate Austrian engineering.

Field strip the Glock. Lube using the 3, 2, 1, method for lube points. Put a dry patch or bore snake through the barrel, assemble and shoot. Lubing instructions are in the manual. Any gun lube will due.

Any questions at all should be referred to the youtube video(s) that try unsuccessfully to torture /destroy a glock pistol by all means (short of nuclear). Pretty amazing durability! NOT TRYING to start a glock vs. everybody elses gun.

If u go to glock talk look up froglube. From what they say on there u wont need any other cleaning or oil supply again. Im going to try it out on my ar22, ar15 and gen4 g19(once i get it back from glock when all the problems r solved lol)

fyi:do not clean out the copper colored grease as some have advised. shoot it alot. field strip and clean when convenient.

The manual says do not clean first go and put about 100 rounds threw it then clean it. Use what you like
