Smith and Wesson 627

Does anyone know if the cylinder on the smith and wesson 4" barrel 627 comes stock milled out to accept moon clips? below is a pic and a link of said gun

Yup, the Pro series is good to go for moon clips. They work great!

Edit to add: However, that link does not specify that being a Pro series. Perhaps they have dropped the standard barrel and all of them have the tapered barrel now. If that's the case, chances are that the standard model is NOT milled for moon clips, but I only have experience with the Pro series.

Good question, I have not run into this on any of the other S&W PPC firearms. I would like to know too.

Well there ya go, it'll be milled for clips then.

I went back to the link and finally found that text. It appears to be black text on a dark blue background so on my monitor I had to highlight it to even have a chance of reading it.

Mine says "Pro Series" on the side of the gun. This picture doesn't have that and not seeing that text before you pointed it out, led to my previous statement.

S&W doesn't indicate the 627 Pro Series is cut for moonclips on their website, but the one I was fondling the other day was. On a side note, some ammo brands seem to be held a little tighter in the moonclips than others. Great choice, by the way.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I was under the same impression as far as the pro series goes the only reason I question it is because this one is the only one that does not state it on the smith and wesson web site.

Just wanted to give an update, I called s&w and asked if it was cut for moon clips, the first thing the guy said was doubt it but let me check. He looked it up and said well it doesn't say but it ships with moon clips so I am assuming it does. So I ordered the gun, it came in, and it is cut for moon clips and ir does come with 3 moon clips I get to pick it up in 4 days.

I have the exact gun you have posted and it comes WITH moonclips. I have used them and they work great with the gun. Though I will say this.....this model may say "pro series" but this one is the pro line of it.
