    Gun show question

So let's say some noob (that would be me) goes to the Crossroads of the West gun show at the Cow Palace this weekend. After wandering around with his jaw hanging open like a country cousin come to the big city for the first time, he sees something. There on the table is, oh lets say a Beretta 92FS that hasn't been too badly abused and is actually within his meager budget. Upon closer examination it appears it really is a good gun at a good price (I can dream can't I).
So the dealer is from out of state, Texas or Arizona or something. Within the context of purchasing a handgun, at a gun show, from an out of state dealer what is the process to do the necessary paperwork with the CAL DOJ, have the gun held for the ten day waiting period, etc.??
Thanks in advance gentlemen for helping me out on this.
Overheard in a bar. "Whatta mean I ain't got the right to arm bears?? When the hell did that happen??"

same thing as usuall. Goes through an FFL, usually there is one at the gunshow doing most the transfers already.

      1) Find a CA FFL that is doing transfers, preferably one close to you as you will have to drive to pick it up.
2)Fill out the forms, pay the money, wait 10 days, pick up at the FFL.

I know this is outside of the scope of the theoretical situation in your question, but the other guys gave you great answers so...

...I've been to that specific gun show (live less than a mile away) a couple of times and a couple of other gun shows as well (including the one I did in the mirror this morning), and it's rare that you find good deals on firearms. At least handguns. I've found the majority of guns to be priced higher than I see them most of the time locally and a lot higher than you can find them online. Some of the junk and knives and ninja crap and silly other things can be had cheap. Ammo can be really nice and cheap if you get there early on the first day -- the good ammo deals tend to go quickly.

They're good places to get something weird and unique, for sure.

Usually the folks at the Crossroads Shows, will tell you who at the show is doing transfers. You gotta ask.
