is the GSG 1911 CA version barrrel threaded?

I just picked up a GSG 1911 CA. While I was looking the gun over I noticed that it looked like the barrel on the non CA version with threads and a thread protector. How does GSG comply with the CA laws about a threaded barrel? Do they just locktite the thread protector on or is there a special non threaded barrel made just for CA? Mine did not come with a wrench and there are no flats in the side of the thread protector, so I don't want to try to remove it. I have the barrel removed from the gun just in case.

    They have a non-threaded version.
(It's not a CA specific model, just different models).

ATI imports GSG, model can be seen there: http://www.americantactical.us/8/catalog.html

The version I purchased was the California approved gun without a threaded barrel. I am just wondering if the barrel actually does have threads on the barrel, but they "hid" them under a permanently attached thread protector. If so, how is the thread protector attached.

It's supposedly welded on. Did you look at the booklets/papers that came with the gun? One of the sheets says it's welded.
My tax refund came chambered in 9mm...

Yeah, I just read that sheet. So I will take their word for it. I sure don't see a weld or spot weld.
