Hi all, I am new here to Calguns, nice site ! My question is for this new .45,matte finish I have. Before I get to attached or involved with it I was wondering if some of the 1911 buffs could give me there opinion/advice on this, good, bad & ugly if any. Has plastic trigger and the follower thing? on the spring. Does this carry a good rating in the 1911 world ? And if I were to keep this what modest improvements might be recomended. I had a series 70Comander .38 super years back and it was "perfect" how does this compare to that series I wonder also. Thanks in advance !

I have a 1991 A1 Commander in stainless, and it ROCKS!!!! The trigger and mainspring housing had been replaced before I got it, and I've done some work to it as well, it's one of my favorites. Need to get some better sights on it though. Feeds everything, and is quite accurate if I do my part. Buy one if you can get a deal on one. -
I have put about 300 rounds through it of mixed fron lead reloads to JHP with no problems. Any thing bad about the two plastic parts ? The previous owner shoot a little less than 100 rds. so condition is mint, just not sure about new stuff these days. I assumed because it is a colt definetly not junk ! Would you recomend fixed or ajust type sights , mfg. by?Lead will be worth more than silver and gold when they are giving it away free !

I have no problem with Series 80's, I carry one almost every day...IMO, I would get rid of the plastic trigger only because all my 1911's get 10-8 flat triggers
In addition to that, if the mainspring housing is plastic, I would put a steel one in...other than that, if I was accurate with the stock sight setup, I would be done unless I felt like checkering it...Good saddles ain't cheap...and cheap saddles ain't good

you can get a MSH of your choosing from almost any supplier/maker, Wilson, Ed Brown, Fusion, Colt...just pick one you like...Brownells and Midway carry a wide assortment
The trigger just depends how well you'd like to get to know your 1911...it's technically a gunsmith install, but with a little knowledge, and a couple simple tools, a mechanically inclined person can do it without a problem...just as long as it passes safety checks, no worriesGood saddles ain't cheap...and cheap saddles ain't good

I just kept the plastic trigger on mine. Still has the plastic mainspring housing, but will get a matte black checkered MSH later. I fitted a Clark grip safety on mine and a trigger job using the factory parts. Still has the 80 series parts in there, but the trigger is way better than out of box.
