Glock 20

Just bought a slightly used Glock 20 for $475. A good deal? Now I have to wait till it gets out of "jail" in 10 days! Where can I pick up some inexpensive ammo for it?

10mm factory ammo and inexpensive are polar opposites
you will pretty much need to reload for it unless you have got a healthy money tree

I picked up 100 rounds of 10mm Blazer at Guns, Fishing and Stuff in Vacavile for around 55.00 out the door.
Works out to 25.00 (minus tax) for 50 rounds.

That is pretty cheap for 10mm, but it is not reloadable and it was only mild loads around 450 ft. lbs. Muzzle energy.
(Double Tap is more like 750 ft. lbs. ME.)

But functioned flawlessly in my like new Glock 20.

Start reloading, I was shooting quality Noslers for like $0.18 a round.

Without reloading, the cheapest you'll find is BVAC or HSM full metal jacket rounds. They won't be full power 10mm cartridges, but they will allow you to get a feel for your new Glock.

Double Tap's claims are WAY off, unfortunately. From personal testing I can say that none of their HD ammo goes much above 600 ft lbs. of energy. I have a handload that I worked up that puts out 780 ft. lbs. at the muzzle. And yes, handloading is absolutely necessary if you own a 10mm. The factory ammo out now just straight up sucks. Aside from a couple of offerings, the 10mm out there now only reaches .40S&W power.

**Double Tap is pretty much a lame duck. Their advertised "power" is overblown false advertising. Example: DT claims that their 180g JHP HD round does 1450fps out of a stock G20. Well, the chronograph doesn't lie: the projectile never got past 1325fps, and was shooting as low as 1220fps! Their 230g "Equalizer" load claimed to have a 1050fps velocity. Sorry, but that is just pure B.S. (wishful thinking, or delusions of grandeur on DT's part???) The truth: 725-875fps.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON DOUBLETAP...THEY ARE RIPPING PEOPLE OFF W/ THEIR HIGH PRICES and FALSE CLAIMS OF "POWER."

I like the Georgia Arms Canned Heat. I shoot it both out of my G 20 and my Kimber 1911. I also like PRVI Partizan defensive rounds for cost. PRVI runs at defensive rate of speed and shoots straight. I bought the PRVI 10mm ammo from Palmetto State Armory but they are out as of late.
