It is off the roster, but can be brought in as a SSE. You would have to get the threads machined off or buy a non-threaded replacement barrel. I am also looking into getting an FNP45, most likely through Direct Action Solutions in Solana Beach. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...42&postcount=7

Would it be legal to weld or solder the thread protector on?

Yes, but cant take the barrel out to clean.

I wasnt really impressed by this pistol. The high sights just suck. I know they are ment to be used with a suppressor, but thats pretty gimmicky.

I'd buy another barrel that isn't threaded. Keep your threaded one (never install it) in case you leave the state or laws change, or sell it. I'm sure any number of people with FNP's would be interested in the threaded barrel and you wouldn't have an issue selling it. If you really like the look of the barrel sticking out of the muzzle, then grind the threads off.

The only way you can legally keep it on your gun and use it is if you have a magazine lock device, like a bullet button. The threaded barrel is only illegal on a semi-auto pistol with a removeable magazine.

You could try calling FNH's part department 1-800-635-1321 to obtain a barrel replacement. The 45 barrel is a drop in replacement. Or you get a barrel from http://www.efkfiredragon.com/fnp-and-five-seven.html.

If you don't mind not being able to co-witness the sights you can go for the FNP-45 Competition (sights are too short, but you can still run a mount). A bit less hassle with sourcing a barrel, but if you're intent on getting the Tactical then you'll have to address the threads on the barrel as stated previously.

Good luck and don't forget to post pics of it if you decide to get it!

i would love to buy it but i guess its too much hassle changing barrel and it has high price for this handgun. might just get the fnp 45 instead
                thanks for all input.

                  It is pricey
                  You got the SSE cost
                  The dros
The barrel change or cutting. Though many dudes with fnp45 would trade barrels in a heart beat for free
Then the last big cost is magazines. Buy 10rounds or mod the 15rd ones it comes with.

I have one. It's fun but feel have should have bought a 1911 instead
                  Guess I'll have both now

What number are you calling for FN parts ? When I called them, they said they will not sell the barrels. When I asked if I could at least get the part number for the unthreaded barrel, the jerk said they would never give out that info.

Call DAS...If I had known better, it would have been my first handgun. Go to POFOA as THEY actually have members that shoot it. My 2 buddies in PA told me I should get the FNP-45...Not knowing better I got the M&P 45....Great gun and it is actually my go to gun since my Colt is a keeper.

The FNP-45 is just a well made, balanced gun in my hand...Go call up DAS or swing by. You get everything. $719 for non-tactical is fine. The tactical is more but if I did not have a need for a bolt action and did not just buy 2 more AK patterns I would have one in a heart beat...

Few in CA have this gun so hearing people on here spew does the gun no justice...Go to POFOA as I said...Quite a few of their members have the FNP-45. Also since we have a roster, a lot of our guys here have not even handled let alone touched some guns free staters have.

                        Get my point.

Good luck but that is a gun I will own one day.

Ive had the FNP 45 non tactical version (#47938). I really love this weapon! Interchangeable back straps, love the feel of this weapon. I steered clear of the tactical knowing moving to a communist state was in the future from CO. I put night sights on it and use it ranging from hunting, home defense, even conceal carry it with a crossbreed holster!
Id get the non tactical pistol if i were you to avoid all the hassle of the threaded barrel.

Yeah I believe if you SSE, you buy a barrel but get the original as well. Not a bad thing if you move out of this liberal, democratic, welfare ridden state.

I pity CA handgun shoppers as they would only imagine what is out there through pics on the web.
