How do u guys feel about buying stuff on gunbroker? The 1911 That I would like to get for my b-day has a 3-9 monthwait period in all the stores near me. I found the 1911on gunbroker for the right price, but I just don't trust these online auction. I've been cheated before on eBay. Are there good stores to deal with on gunbroker (high customer satisfaction ratings) does that make them trustworthy?

My best advice for gunbroker:

1. Make sure the FFL ships to CA and look at the sellers feedback.
2. Be careful when buying used guns, sellers will often take bad pictures to hide defects, then once the gun arrives you discover something not mentioned.

If the high customer saisfaction ratings are there, I'd be more than okay with it. Call them first. I've done over 20 transactions on GB and they all went smoothly.

They say that, but some will change their tune if you ask...it's one thing to say they won't deal in CA, another if they're looking at several hundred bucks that they might not get...

That said, on something that's totally legal here (that is, that they have no reason other than ignorance to refuse to sell to a buyer here), I'd just go ahead and bid and leave bad feedback if they refuse to honor it.

Bought two guns off Gunbroker, one on roster, one off. People may be wary if you don't have feedback, so communicate promptly and pay on time.

You'll go crazy if you go on a crusade of trying to convert all the anti-CA folks there. Pick your battles and be civil as you would with any other type of transaction and you shouldn't have any problems.

Gunbroker is a great tool. I have bought over 120 items there and have had no problems. It is great when looking for those rare items.

I have a kinda funny story between what was a potential buyer and a seller that I just had to share since the email thread was handy and the auction is current..

Also many sellers offer a 3-day no-firing inspection period. Take advantage of it.

Just purchased a Springfield 1911 that I couldn't find locally.
It was available from several different sellers on gunbroker. I checked feedback, contacted some of the sellers, contacted my local FFL and then made my choice.
I would prefer to spend the $ locally but if it's not available, you can find some really good deals (including free shipping).

Perform a little due diligence and shop with confidence. Just as you wouldn't buy from a shady LGS, you can find out who is on the up and up with some basic research.

I never try to convince a seller to work with me. If they don't want me as a buyer, I move along - let someone else buy the horse without checking its teeth - I won't!

i've bought many magazines, accessories, gun parts and other goodies from various sellers on Gunbroker internet auction. i've also bought several guns from the same auction site.

before i consider bidding on an item i always check on a seller's feedback from past buyers. i don't just look for positive vs negative; i read what the past buyers say about this seller. the proof is in the puddin.

don't be shy when considering an item for purchase; ask your questions before bidding. if the pictures displayed are not to your satisfaction, ask for more pictures.

read the seller's rules and terms of sale... and the rules of Gunbroker before bidding. do not assume anything. if there is any confusion in your mind regarding these terms from the seller, ask about it; again, before bidding.

set your ducks up in a row; find out if there are shipping costs added on top of the purchase price. also, inquire about charges from your receiving FFL in advance of your bidding. the purpose of this is to know in advance what costs you'll have over and beyond the purchase price of item.

unlike ebay, the auction of Gunbroker doesn't always end at the proposed ending time, unless it's a "buy it now" auction; other bidders have 15 minutes to beat the top bid at end of auction. if the winning bid is outbid, others will have another 15 minutes to beat the new top bid... and so on. if nobody outbids the top bid at initial auction ending time... the top bidder at that time wins the item.

i have never had a bad experience with a purchase on Gunbroker.
