Powder river trigger kit for xd

I just got one of the turner's specials on an xd 9. The trigger was ok but it had a bunch of takeup and the trigger broke all the way at the rear of the trigger guard. I have read good things about powder river trigger parts so I ordered the ultimate trigger kit for $100. Honestly you don't get a whole lot for the money, 2 springs, a trigger and I guess you call it a sear arm. But when the parts are installed holy crap the difference is night and day. My trigger went from about 5.5 lbs. to about 3.5lbs. The takeup and reset is minimal along with zero overtravel. The gun use to fire when the trigger was all the way to the rear now it's more towards the middle of the trigger guard. The actual install really isn't very tough. The bar for the sear dropped right in. The trigger stop needed to be filed to fit so I had to put the trigger in and out about 4 times but the whole project took about an hour so. If any of you are thinking about a trigger upgrade for you xd go for it you will be very pleased.

Funny, I bought the Turner's special too and was thinking about getting a trigger kit. Which kit did you get?

Just re-read your post. The Ultimate kit is the way to go?

I've been seriously thinking about the xd. Good price plus the extra goodies from SA. The only issue I have is that grip safety squeeze thingy. I feels odd to me. How has it worked out for you all?

I just picked up the same gun yesterday. This sounds like a really good upgrade.

Was the installation difficult? Where did you buy the trigger kit?

Hey guys, I have a XD40 and I have done the Ultimate match trigger kit on this and I must say the pull feels great. I put about 150 rounds through the gun with the new trigger and it's very clean and crisp pull to it. The travel length is cut down to a minimal and the pull is pretty light. I would recommend this after you've put some rounds through the gun so that you get a feel for the gun.

DangerousGoods - The grip safety felt fine to me. I've never had a problem with how the grip safety felt.

How does the Springer Precision trigger kit compare the Powder River trigger kit? Which will be easier to install? Which has a shorter travel with a clean crisp break??

And on a side note, anyone know a good XD smith in the Los Angeles / San Gabriel area? Was thinking of getting some night sights and maybe have trigger upgraded at the same time.

This Turners special is adding up with all the mods

Also what's the difference between powder river's:
              Drop in Trigger vs.
              Ultimate Easy Fit Trigger vs.
              Ultimate Match Target Trigger

              thanks.

The difference is the amount of fitting left. The better kits require minor fitting. Its the best way to go over a drop in, as the custom fit triggers are match.

I went with the ultimate instead of the match because the stock trigger pull was pretty clean but I wanted to make the pull shorter and farther forward. I didn't see the need for the new sear which comes in the match kit.

From what I gathered from my research online is both the the PRP and the Springer kits are very good they just go about it differently. The one difference it seems is the Springer kit still breaks towards the rear of the trigger guard while with the PRP kit the trigger break is moved forward. That's what sold me on the PRP kit.
Here's 2 you tube videos on an XDM trigger to see a PRP trigger before and after. It's about the same for the XD. This looks like an earlier kit without the new trigger.

How much fitting will be required for the PRP Ultimate Easy Fit Trigger??

Or should I just for the Drop In Trigger kit???

                    Thanks.

On my xd9 I just had to file down the the stop on rear of the trigger untill the gun would fire. The trigger is polymer so filing is easy but I took my time and measured with my calipers so I could tell how much material I had removed. As for the drop in kit it would probably be easier but it also comes with a reduced power striker spring which I probably wouldn't use. The trigger pull is plenty light with out that and I wouldn't want to worry about light primer strikes.

I like the springer personally, since it breaks further back and the trigger is set further back, but both kits are awesome improvement over stock.

Ok...I'm having a hard time deciding between the PRP Ultimate Easy trigger kit and the Springer Trigger kit.

Get the Ultimate kit if you are getting PRP. The sear makes a lot of difference. I love mine, it makes the trigger awesome. That's awesome period, not awesome for a polymer gun.

If you have to choose between them, I'd say the PRP is just very slightly more work (not difficulty, just work) to fit than the Springer, but it removes more overtravel and is the slightly better kit by a small margin.

Found this while doing some research on the kit. Thought someone might be interested.
