I have recently bought a new Sig 1911 (Thanks Ernie for the Great Deal) and being old and half blind I am considering Crimson Trace grips.. This gun will be a house gun with some range work also... Those that have the grips please respond, hell even if you don't you can Respond!!

If you have that hard a time seeing you probably won't see that tiny red dot. Plus laser sights make you lower the gun to see the dot, otherwise the gun would be covering where the dot hits. So that messes with form and muscle memory you already have. I would consider a laser sight only for a nightstand gun your wife might need to use while you are away. Odds are she doesn't practice as much as you do so while you would be worlds better with your irons, they help her out in an emergency. But my experience is that they slow experienced shooters down.

That said I would be happy to sell ya one.

The grey haired crew I shoot with now and again tend to adjust their shooting style to their disabilities.

For example, one gent is right eye dominant but his vision is going in that eye so he now shoots with only his left and has improved since.

I used to not be able to hit the broadside of a barn with my pistol, until I wised up and starting shooting from the inside of the barn; haven't missed yet!

I'm not old and my eyes are just fine, but I still like having my lasermax green uni-mount. I can shoot just fine but when miliseconds count I want every advantage on my side, unless a person has automatic muscle memory to bring their weapon up and shoot it, it is tough to be the quick target acquisition in low light that lasers offer.

I really like my CTs. Won't ever have a HD weapon without em again. Target acquisition is much faster.

I have a laser on the house gun because Wifezilla prefers it. The secret to shooting with a laser is to not look at the gun at all. Put the red dot on the target and keep there. It doesn't matter if you hold the gun at eye level or from the hip just keep the dot on the target. The dot being downrange is much easier to see as older eyes tend to lose the ability to focus on closer objects.

While not "an old guy", I am a maturing female who just got handed bifocals and they changed my glasses to weaken my strong eye and strengthen my weak eye. Talk about messing with shooting that will do it! I shoot with both eyes open but I really had to adjust to the new glasses and change my way of shooting.

Sorry no experience with the CT but it does look fun to play with!

I put some CT grips on a Beretta.
The problem is, I have been very well trained and with my finger indexed like it should be, the laser is blocked by my trigger finger.

I dont use a CT. My home defense gun is a HK 45 USP. Last time at the range I shot a man size target at @ 7 yards. I avoided the sights all together and just pointed at the target. I believe that is probabely how I will shoot/react if I am ever comfronted with such a situation. The target died many times over and my comfort with point and shoot is much higher. Need to do this exercise more often.
