Springfield Champion Operator came home today

Hey guys, thought I'd share my newest purchase with y'all. I was with the other half 10 days ago and thought it'd be a good idea to give Markley's a shot again. My past experiences there have been below par but I said what the heck, I'll go and check it out. As I was browsing the handguns, I had my heart set on a FN 5.7... It was a gun I wanted for a while until I saw this beauty. It was obviously LE only and the guy was a bit reluctant to let me check it out until I ID'd myself. Their customer service has improved a great deal. So after handling it about 30 seconds, I said yep, that's the gun for me. I love the 1911 style and this is my second... right next to my Kimber Ultra Carry. This gun is SO light. I cannot stress that enough.

I shot a few mags through it earlier tonight and it was flawless. I have a few accessories I bought for it.. Raven holster w/ TLR3... kimber pro mags, etc.

It's a 4" barrel, railed, sweet trigger.. night sights.. it's perfect (for me).. I may change the grips to something else down the road to preserve the stock ones. picture below... thanks for looking.

That's a beauty! I really wanted one of those but found a Loaded Champion LW for a great price. It is, like yours, very light and not a big deal to carry all day long. It definitely has a different feel shooting versus a steel framed 1911 but totally manageable.

A few notes from my experience with my Champion LW:
            • I only use Wilson magazines in it because I have found that some steel followers can tilt and eat away at the alloy feed ramp. There are numerous posts on other forums about this. There are some good anti-tilt steel followers but the Wilson 47 series are my safe bet.
            • Speaking of magazines, I would suggest getting some Wilson Combat 47DC magazines for carry. They are the 8 round magazines but with a slim basepad. They sit almost flush with the grip they're better for concealed carry.
            • There are many holsters out there but I carry mine in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II and it works extremely well. Brownell's usually has them in stock too so no long waiting times or eBay/Internet forum gouging.

            Enjoy that beauty!
