springfield XD flashlight?

those xd's have the molded front rail for the special streamlight made flashlight they sell. they also sell a flashlight laser sight combo.

How bright is the light part? worth the 100 bucks? an opinions?

I'm curious where you saw the light/laser combo? I've seen the Streamlight M-6, but it's listed as a Glock fitament, no mention of others.

The XD rail is a Picatinny standard rail, I believe, as is the Glock. Any light that will fit one will fit the other. A few manufacturers make non-standard rails (HK or Sig?) that reduces your choice of lights a lot.

I have the Springfield XML for the XD subcompact (same as the Insight X2), and it's as bright as any standard single-cell halogen tactical light, which is to say very bright. It's a very small light, made specifically for subcompacts, and uses a smaller battery (CR2) than most rail lights, which use a CR123 battery. It's not a good fit on a standard size gun.

The switch is a little flakey on mine (it came that way when I bought the gun used), and I don't know if that's a typical problem with these.

Also, I dropped it once, the bulb died, and it cost $17 for a new one. The standard sizes are cheaper, I think.

I believe my next tactical pistol light will be an LED model, just to try them out, since they're much less likely to die from shock.

As for whether the light's worth $100, that's a tough call. I like hand-held lights, but the rail-mounted lights can't be beat for illuminating your target.

If you get a name brand, try it out, and don't like it, you can get a good bit of your money back on it.
