    Ammo Expiration

    Hi,
Anyone knows how long is most factory ammo good for? I'd like to buy them in cases ...
    Thanks!

A long time. Just keep them away from moisture.

I have been shooting surplus for years, I just bought some Bulgarian from the 70's, looks and shoots like brand new. As long as the ammo is stored in a cool dry place, it will last at least 40 years.

Mine lasts until I use it. Seriously though, I have boxes that are from the 40's that fire just fine. Your benefactors will enjoy your ammo if you don't use it all.

I shoot surplus ammo from the late 60's that shoots great. Over 50 years old, like mentioned, keep it in a cool dry place.

Like every one else said! Cool dry places! Been shooting lots of surplus 762x54 in the old tuna cans. That stuff is about 60-70 years old? Maybe older. Kinda dirty but still very accurate!

I hope not, otherwise a lot of people are going to be disappointed when the zombies come.

                Ammo love you Long Time!!!

I've got ammo from WWII that still functions like the day it was made. Store is a cool dry place is the Golden Rule.

When stored in a cool & dry enviroment, ammo in sealed containers will be good for over 100 years.

As long as it is kept dry, and not exposed to extreme heat, prety much forever.
I have recently shot WWII production .30-06, no issues what so ever.

I fired some American Eagle from the 1980's last week and it shot just fine. It's been kept in a cool, dry, dark place.

I would keep fresh ammo for self-defense and use the older stuff for target practice.

                              What is cool and dry?

                              Is cool less than 95? 85? 75?

Is dry less than 70% humidity? 60%? 50%?
